forgot my hat ONCE, I'm here to tell you this happens.
If it happens to you you, don't get to the the "oh it hurts dance" with a gun in your hand swinging it wildly.
Suck it up butter cup, muzzle down range!!!
Nothing worse than a recently graduated recruit at their first qual shoot "catching" a 9mm case. That gun muzzle points in some very interesting (NOT) directions.Having been a law enforcement officer for 46 years and having to qualify at least once (usually more) per year on a 10 to 20 lane outdoor range, I have had hot brass in just about every place you can imagine. Down my shirt, between my glasses and my eye, and once or twice in my pants pocket. It happens.
Last time I qualified I had two 9mm cases from the shooter to my left go down the back of my shirt, which was a uniform tee with a very small collar under a ballistic overvest. The R/O saw the second and was surprised I still carried on shooting the Glock string. It stung for a few days but I've had worse.
Like the time i was R/O on a match and the shooter hit a galvanised steel pipe wall frame only a few yards in front of him. The projectile came right back at me and took the skin off my wrist holding the timer.
