Swerved into another RM the other day. It came with a Factory Letter and a bunch of provenance.
Serial # 57093, Registration #4218 originally shipped to The W.A. Holt Co. in Waco, Texas, November 1938. Ordered by State of Texas Game and Fish Officer K.S. Hull Jr.
The RM was delivered with a 6 1/2" barrel. In April of 1941 Officer Hull had the barrel cut to 3 1/2".
When I rescued this nice old Duty Gun, it was wearing a set of 1970s target grips and a trigger shoe.
Cleaned it up snd added the Ivory grips.

That’s a beauty! Is there a factory rework date on the left side grip strap for when the barrel was cut? The rib does not appear to be recessed and I’m wondering if the factory actually did the work.

Terry:
No rework numbers and no star anywhere. The factory offered Officer Hull a new barrel at $12.50. I think he took another route. The numbers in the barrel channel match the rest of the gun. Looks like the King mirror sight base was moved back and a brass bead was added at that time. He probably saved two or three dollars, which was big bucks at the time.

Trivia - Kirby Smith Hull, Jr (1896-1954) was listed in the 1940 U.S. Census as living at 507 N. 3rd St in Temple, Tx and was a Game Warden with the Texas Game Commission with a salary of $400 in 1939.
