Hello. Recently came across a model 15-2. Liked its look and original appearance so I bought it. Fired a few rounds through it and really like it, bit do not know much about it. Looking for a few answers to it.
Your revolver was made between 1961 and 1966. I have a 1966 that I carried as a cop.

Welcome to the forum from Oregon. The Model 15, also called the Combat Masterpiece, is a .38 Special caliber mid-size revolver with adjustable sights. It was a mainstay in police holsters for many years. One of the finest guns S&W ever produced, in my opinion. It is a K frame gun. It takes .38 Special ammunition and +P is fine to shoot in this model of revolver. If you could post pics and the serial number, we could give you more information. You can leave off the last 2-3 digits of the serial number if you want. Congratulations on purchasing a fine revolver.

Have one also & it was my first CC gun. Standard issue for many police depts back then. I carried one until we could carry 357 then got the 19. Still have it & shoot it some but since I carry other guns, it doesn't get shot much. Still a fine gun.

Welcome to the forum from coastal Maine! The Model 15 is a fine piece; served me well as an issued duty revolver during the late 70s in the nuclear industry. My well worn 15 was SUPER accurate- including attaining a “Distinguished Expert” rating during qualification.
