Any Russian aircraft or tank the Ukrainians destroy is that many that NATO doesn't have to face one day. And it helps to postpone that day until a later time. They can destroy the entire Russian strategic bomber fleet as far as I'm concerned. In fact, I hope they do! (And this comes from a former B-52 guy!)
When you think about all the Ukrainian civilians Russia has targeted — remember the maternity hospital? — and that it would have been so much easier for Ukraine to destroy densely packed Russian civilian housing rather than closely guarded Russian air bases, it tells you something about the difference between the two regimes, doesn't it?

No bombers? No problem. Vlad will just send in waves of his poorest and most despondent citizens on a one-way trip carrying explosives on their backs.

I agree with this. Putin wanted more territory, hopefully the entire Ukraine. Now he's painted himself into a corner. He can't just give up without giving up Tea and going near open windows. Three years? Putin thought it would be a walk over. Trump's not going to settle anything, he's wasting his time.

It's not like the Russians woke up one day and decide to invade a country for no reason.
If NATO gets what they're asking for, and jumps in, Europe is going to be in a world of hurt, with countless lives being lost, on top of a generation of young Ukranian men being wiped out already.
Hardly something to cheer for.

It started just as did Russian seizures of sovereign nations' land in Transnistria (1990), Abkhazia (1994), South Ossetia (2008), Crimea (2014), and fighting in the Donbas (2014), then full-scale military invasion (2022). Russian expansionism through 'peacekeeping,' proxies, or directly, caused this war and others. It is a false narrative that NATO was threatening Russia; nations freed from Communist domination by the collapse of the Soviet Union voted to join NATO over time as they had (and have) no wish for the return of Russian domination.
I just returned from Tbilisi and Yerevan in January and saw Russian methods firsthand.
My most fervent hope is that our people will resist foreign mitary invasion with the courage and tenacity of Ukraine.

It goes back a lot longer. Look at the Winter War invasion of Finland in 1939.

Notice Putin hasn't invaded Finland or Sweden for joining NATO. The most endangered nations (endangered by Russia) on NATO borders now are Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, then Poland, all NATO members. Moldova, Georgia, and Armenia are very much on the Russian menu and are not NATO members.
