Around here rual small town. The shops put lead back on when they do tires. We have to sort them out. Lot of zinc and steel on off new stuff.Where do you find lead wheel weights without stealing them from old cars?

When the guy on the 6:00 news uttered the word "pandemic", I put in a massive order for powder and primers. That's why I still am loading a box of 50 handgun cartridges for $2.50. A month later (April 2020) the shelves were bare.Que the reloaders ...
THAT was because of the Safe Act two point 0. We had advance notice, so we knew it was coming. No excuse for not stocking up then.Ammo companies will not ship to NY its pretty sad. They do in fact run a background check on ammo purchases which to me is totally insane.
I stay stocked up on "Dillon made" ammo...........Buy a little factory stuff here and there...........Everybody should keep plenty on hand.........APPARENTLY. No one remembers the last 3 ammo dry -ups in the last 10 years.Just another perspective; handloaded ammo is still ammo, made of components just like factory ammo.

Many states now ban lead WWs. You have to be careful when you buy them because the zinc ones are not usable.Tire shops

That's the way to do it! Buy it cheap and stack it deep!Oh yeah, I remember the ammo dry up and the hi cap mag dry up. Vowed then to keep enough of both on hand to arm the US Army, Russian Army and Nortg Korean Army combined. You wouldn't believe the hauls I get at local estate sales, yard sales and flea markets. Went into a Pirate shop before the pandemic, sort of a small one owner flea market indoors, guy had ammo and mags at such killer prices I bought his entire inventory of ammo and mags. I still have ammo I'm trading for ammo I use. Paid the guy then ran down the street to u-haul and rented a truck. Right price? You buy it whether you need it or not, if not, then trade it.
I started going to Estate sales about 15 years ago. Haven't been to one in 2 years. Mostly overpriced garbage.Oh yeah, I remember the ammo dry up and the hi cap mag dry up. We have yet to see real insanity. That will come with the next change in White House leadership if it's the wrong party that takes over. I am old enough and have gone thru several of these "shortages" and I learned my lessons from them. If you reload stock up when you can even if it hurts your wallet. Better to have in this arena than not have. Rarely are there deals too good to pass up in this game. You don't want to be the one that says, "I wish I had bought more." It is quite comforting knowing I can go downstairs and sit at my reloading bench and crank out any number of rounds for the calibers I shoot. It wasn't always that way years ago, before I got serious about reloading....Ammo companies will not ship to NY its pretty sad. Components do not require a background check. The politicians didn't think about that.Ammo companies will not ship to NY its pretty sad. They do in fact run a background check on ammo purchases which to me is totally insane.
Shhh!!! don't let them hear you say that. I'm all stocked up on ammo and components. It's a particular revolver I'm looking for and is impossible to find. Watching GB every day.Components do not require a background check. The politicians didn't think about that.
A Sunday afternoon ride to PA is a wonderful way to spend the day. There are several gun shops right across the border and they are all stocked up.
However, I hear that they have raised their prices a bit.
You only have a short ride to make it to VT or NH. Unless you are tired of being coldIm planning a move out of Ma so no more till Im resettled.
I am back in RI for the summer, and I brought a few pistols with me, but no ammo. i figured it is harder to mak e a case against me if I had guns and no ammo.I'd be happy to find some .35 Remington and .270 Winchester.
NY does not allow mail order/internet purchase/delivery of ammunition.
In NY stores ammo background check in place. Conducted by non-gov't vendor who requires SSN. Fee involved. Many delays, Go is good for 3 days since initial query. If you get a Go on 3rd day and don't get back to purchase until 4th, you must start the process again. System already breached for SSN numbers. NY says not their problem , take it up with vendor.
I don't know if person-to-person sales without background check is legal. I haven't had the need to do so yet.
I'm not going to the range as much as I would like, but at 69 I don't do lots of things as often as I would like.
After the "Apocalypse" I have some magazines for light reading. Joe

Does that mean it's time to stock up on components?Just another perspective; handloaded ammo is still ammo, made of components just like factory ammo.
That is correct to some degree. They have to buy ammunition from a licensed ammunition vendor (LAV). They do it, but don't get caught in the Agricultural Check Stations at the border.....I've heard Lalifirnia has made it illegal to go out of state and buy a.mo, any truth to this?
$25 for 20 rounds of Hornady Custom 358 Winchester for my Savage 99 is really a "Stock Up" situation in today's world where you cannot find it. Similarly, $125 for six boxes of Hornady LeverEvolution 35 Remington for my Marlin 336 was a "Stock Up" event. I don't reload any more.I don't see how $38.75 for 20 rounds of 300 Savage
is a "Stock Up" situation.
Yes. I reload.
Cabela's and Academy here in Oklahoma City both had some 35 Rem before the 2024 hunting season, about $45 per box as I remember. You might be able to order some online from them. Academy had some 270 Win last week, even one load on sale. I noticed because I also feed a 35 Rem and 358 Win so I always look for odd items on the cartridge shelves.I'd be happy to find some .35 Remington and .270 Winchester.

I also live in NY, western NY to be exact. I believe that you can order ammo from Cabelas on line and then pick it up at the store. Don't quote me on that though. Look into it, got nothing to loose by asking.Thanks. In NY we are not allowed on-line purchases of ammunition.
