Rusty Update **New Update Post 378**

"Almost Cut My Hair"

I almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day
It was gettin' kinda long
I could-a said, it was in my way
But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
And I feel like I owe it to someone

Must be because I had the flu for Christmas
And I'm not feelin' up to par
It increases my paranoia
Like lookin' at my mirror and seein' a police car
But I'm not givin' in an inch to fear
Cause I promised myself this year
I feel like I owe it to someone

When I finally get myself together
I'm gonna get down in that sunny southern weather
And I find a place inside to laugh
Separate the wheat from the chaff
I feel like I owe it to someone

When the infusions are all done you will have to grapple with this. Personally I'm going with the ancient hippie look. The eye lashes are the last to come back but that's OK. Just take your time.

Another Rusty update.

"I now have a concrete game plan after seeing my surgeon today.
She is halting chemo as it has done its job.
She is markedly impressed by how much the tumor has shrunk and how well I have fared through these many months.
I next have to see my cardiologist and a pulmonologist to make sure I am up to surgery.
I will get a 6 week rest followed by a CT scan and then robotic surgery around the end of August to do the Whipple Procedure followed by a 5 day hospital stay and a minimum two months of painful home convalesence.
I eagerly await this as I will gladly endure the pain knowing that I will gain a measure of wholeness and have a few more years of quality time with my loved ones and friends.
Let's get this party started."

Rusty,
Best wishes on moving forward from your chemo. I have no idea what the Whipple Procedure is, but I hope it works well for you. I trust it was not invented by this guy:

It's a very serious surgery, but Rusty is tough!

"The Whipple procedure involves removing the head of the pancreas, a portion of the small intestine (duodenum), the gallbladder, and part of the bile duct, according to the American Cancer Society. It's a challenging operation because it requires careful manipulation and reconnection of multiple organs."

My wife had this done on XMAS Eve a few months ago at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.

You can do this Rusty

Bless you all for your support and kindness.

What a beautiful morning.
At 8:30 I was wide awake. I feel so uplifted after yesterday's encouraging news.
When I got up to go potty I felt little discomfort, my feet (gout was in both) didn't hurt much and I am more steady on them.
I feel good spiritually, emotionally and physically.
Like James Brown "I feel good!"

It's been a long time coming.
