Looking for info on my San Antonio PD issued revolver.

Hello I recently picked up a SAPD issued 65–2 Revolver just looking to get more information on the firearm in general. I'm also trying to see when it possibly was utilized in this police department or set into service.

The sample serial is 1D72XXX

A few years ago I acquired this as-new 65-3 heavy barrel .357, sourced a proper hammer replacement and converted it
to double-action-only / bobbed the hammer. Mr. Jinks S&W historical letter provides a nice summary
of the provenance of the Model 65. Absent ejector rod shroud is a vulnerable oversight in my opinion.

1D45001 - 1D99999 shipped from 1979 - 1980. The only SAPD info I saw was for the Model 64, a .38 Special gun without the heavy barrel. I'd love to learn more about it too.
