Home Defense Shotguns

Seeing a couple of photos, gotta ask, is a brace "all ok" on a Tac 14 or similar "firearm?"

Presently, pistol braces are legal. Several court rulings have vacated the ATF's rule that classified pistols with stabilizing braces as short-barreled rifles. Because the ATF has dropped its appeal of these rulings that effectively ended the pistol brace ban.

It is recommended that all of us who have stabilizing braces on pistols of any design that are, for all intents and purposes, "abbreviated" rifles, stay aware of the status as time moves on. As long as we have the present Commander-in-Chief, and if he is followed by his GOP successors, I think we will be fine.

I have an 18" twin trigger JPSauer double in 12 gauge. Shotshells are 7.5 3 dram trap loads. Furthest distance in my house would be less than 50'

If I really need a defensive shotgun I have complete confidence in my great-grandfather's W.Richards underlever sidehammer SxS 12 gauge. I fire a few rounds a year of BP 00 buck and a fair amount of BP 7.5s. Either would be fine - it's currently loaded with buckshot.

It's defended our family from people on 2 occasions - in the 1920s when great-grandpa shot 'Gimpy' Haynes as he was trying to steal half a hog in the middle of the night from the smokehouse. Haynes lived, but that night is when he earned the name 'Gimpy.'

In the 1980s my wife had an angry drunk man shouting at our trailer in Spanish, then he opened the gate and started to the steps, where she met him. He was drunk, so he sneered, "Does that thing even work?" She just eared back a hammer, raised it level with his chest and said nothing. He decided to go away. The PD caught him a couple of blocks away, by then passed out in someone else's yard.

Great stories!!!
(PS & Headsup: the crimp is coming open on the rightmost round pictured.)

I currently have the top one...old Winchester 1200 leaning against my headboard. Probably replace it with the short Wingmaster. It is nice to have options.

If you're smart, and I understand you are, your heart that will kill you. Stop carrying a gun to protect yourself. The odds of you dying in a gunfight are 0.00 out of zero. (For effect) The odds of your heart killing you is likely 100%. Lay down your weapon. The best drug to keep your heart and YOU MOST IMPORTANTLY is to keep you alive. Sweat is the answer. Not .45ACP.

The Isreali athletes at the Munich Olympics were healthy and in excellent physical condition. I bet they wished for a shotgun or 2.

Dunno. They never have yet lost any shot - been using one brand or another of these BP shells since SASS made a market for them. Before that I only used 1 oz dove & quail loads, but even those were likely not a good choice in Damascus barrels.
