I was powder shopping last friday after work. I picked up some more tightgroup, some HS-6, IMR 4227, and some 700X.

Or at least I thought I bought IMR 700X. It turns out I was distracted talking to the sales guy about other things, and I picked up Hodgdon Hi Skor 700x. It says it's rifle and pistol powder. My question is this, does Hi Skor 700X=IMR 700X? Hodgdon lists both on their website? Do I need to find something to do with this, or find someone who needs it?

Signed, distracted and confused.

It is the same stuff.
Hodgdon is solidifying their trademark by limiting the IMR brand to the actual IMR rifle powders and relabeling the shotshell powders as Hodgdons. They are still made by IMR Powders in Canada to the same formulations. The ones they aren't discontinuing, like PB.

Thank you for verifying what I thought I was able to assertain online regarding the two. I feel better now, since I was buying it to put together a different 9mm load to try out.

Matt

When did they decide to get rid of PB? Holy hell, at this rate, there won't be any shotgun powders left in production.

IMR quit making (Because Hodgdon quit ordering or didn't order enough to bother with?) PB, 4756, and 7625 shotgun/pistol powders and 4759 light load rifle powder as of last year. Some got out in the late days of The Panic and is sometimes seen in stock.
