I think this is the setscrew that goes into the main shaft and secures the shellplate bolt. The Dillon number is RL550-5 in my very old Dillon book. In the newer book it is a 505. There is a note for a minimum parts order of $3.00 and this book may be 20 years old. I wonder what hardware store carries a brass tipped setscrew these days? Doesn't seem like a Lowes part. It mikes .242" diameter and is .416" long. I can't help you on the thread pitch but it is fine as you would expect. I suspect it is 1/4" diameter fine thread unless Allen screws use an oddball thread.

I am sorry the part is 13923. It is the one that goes into the main shaft and against the screw that holds the shellplate in place. I can order one tomorrow. I thought maybe I could buy one locally. I think I remember finding the old one laying on the bench and putting it up somewhere.
My old 550 is an all steel set screw, no brass tip, it bears against the large shaft screw that holds the shell plate in place. Sorry, I don't have a TPI gauge any more.

The threads measure 28 per inch so it is a quarter inch fine tread allen screw. The trick will be finding the tip. My old 550 has the brass tip but they may have discontinued use of that. A call to Dillon would give you that info. Why would you remove the screw in the first place? In it's normal function you just loosen it a couple of turns and remove the shellplate bolt. The purpose of the brass tip would be to avoid damage to the shellplate screw. I would think the shellplate screw would be hardened and it would take more torque on the setscrew than needed to damage it. If it got scratched it could be dressed with a file easily in that non critical area so a plain hardware store setscrew might be fine for that purpose.

My guess is that I loosened it or maybe took it out to change calibers and forgot about it.

My press is a 450, that I added updated to make it a 550b and that screw is steel, no brass tip. I have a factory parts kit from over 20 years ago, that screw is included and had a brass tip.
My opinion is that either will work, if that is any consolation.

Can you put a piece of lead shot into the hole then install a standard set screw? The lead will act as a cushion.
