Dillon presses

It's always nice to not have to change primer feed sizes. I have 2 550s and 2 750s and I don't change. I may sell the L size 750 as I haven't loaded any thing on it. Yet. I bought a Dillon 550B at a garage sale last weekend..Looks new...but no primer feed parts at all. No powder measure either...100 bucks. I also bought another medium size tote with reloader parts and stuff just because...there was a SDB tool head and 2 SDB Primer set ups marked L and S. 30 bucks and a whole lot of other stuff in the tote. a complete set of FA bullet seating dies...or whatever it is. When I got home in the bottom of the tote was a complete new 550 Powder measure...and a whole bunch of Pachmayr handgun grips...like 15 of 'em. Still no primer feed for the 550B...but I figured on selling the 2 SDB feeds to kinda get the stuff I need for the 550. Anybody need a whole buncha rubber grips...or??...Heck I don't even need the 550. I spent way too much at that garage sale...but got a SA Hellcat for my daughter...but she's paying for it...Checks in the mail! Maybe

I load more than a dozen calibers, both handgun and rifle on my 550B's. Initially, I bought one and did the caliber changes which were no real trouble...each taking ~5 minutes to complete.

But I quickly got sick of fiddling with the primer changes from small to large and back again, as I was shooting a lot of .45 ACP vs. 9mm and .38 Spl/.357 Magnum. While there are some good tricks for getting everything all lined up correctly, the mess and bother of it finally drove me to buy another press.

I bit the bullet and bought another 550B, keeping one in small size primers and the other permanently in large.

It's worked out well for me, and I don't regret the add'l expense as I do a lot of recreational shooting and load for myself, family and friends.

The Dillon presses have, like everything else in this hyper-inflated economy, gone up in price...they are still, IMHO, the standard by which all, ALL, progressive presses are measured. Their customer support is the best in the industry by far....Best regards, Rod

This past year I bought another 550b from a private seller, the other one has 20+ years of use. Both of these were previously used, yet Dillon honors the warranty whenever I've needed parts replaced.

I've got one set up for large pistol primer cases and the other for small pistol primer cases.

Investing in various tool heads with dies already set up saves me time when converting from one caliber to another, I've installed LED lighting systems on both of these and have them mounted on raised platforms as I prefer to stand while reloading.

I'll wear out before they do... now that the kids have moved out of the house my Best Friend 'George Jeffersoned' my butt to one of their former bedrooms rather then being in the garage. Plus she outfitted the 'hobby' room with matching cabinets etc. for organization.

This also ensures they can't come back!
