Is there any one powder I could buy that would cover me for reloading both 00 buckshot and things light as #8 birdshot?

Would Alliant Promo work?

Thanks in advance....

In shotgun loading, the size of the shot is not as important as the total weight of the shot.
For example, if you wanted to load 1 1/8 and 1 1/4 oz loads in 12 ga, Unique can handle both.
However, if you want to load 1 5/8 oz max velocity loads in 3" magnum 12 ga, you need a slower powder.
I'd say you really need 2 powders to cover the full range with any efficiency. When the slowest magnum powders are used in 1 1/8 oz loads, they are pretty smokey.

Thanks OKFC05!

I guess I'm really more concerned about the buckshot of the two. Birdshot is not too spendy (YET) but I'd like to try my hand at some buckshot. What would you recommend?

FFg b lack powder.

It's the weight of payload, not the make up of the payload that determines the appropriate powder. Just as a rocket doesn't know whether it's a satellite or a manned craft, the only concern is the crafts weight.

Looks like Universal might be a good fit, then.

Can also be used for pistol.

What's best for 30 carbine out of an M1 carbine?

My preference has always been IMR 4227 for M-1 Carbine. But I learned here, that it's no longer produced? So my last 2-3 pounds will have to do!
There's lot's of folks running M-1 Carbine's here, someone will be along shortly with their fav's.
