Sometimes things just work out for the best....A 44 Special.

Picked up a butchered TL, and then along came this here OD with a bad barrel.

A lit'l time in the tool shop and Wa-Lah ("Voilà".).........An EDC for riding the range.

Now it's unfortunate that butchered Triple Lock had a 4" barrel instead of the more common 6 1/2" barrel as a 4" barrel is rare. The 3 line barrel address on the side is proof that it was not a cut barrel. Nonetheless, however, a nice marriage of two otherwise salvageable revolvers.

When you say "butchered" relative to the Triple Lock, what do you mean? How bad?

Someone had attempted to re-configure the back strap
to a profile somewhat aliken to a SAA and failed purty bad.

After theys ground into the inards and the edge of the side plate...
They got out the stick welder and cold blue.

Pretty cool Dave!

As I think this thru....from the fixed sight TL 44 spl, the barrel, cyl and yoke were installed in the OD frame. The front of the OD frame was milled for the TL cam plate on the 44 yoke.

If you used the OD side plate which I assume that of course you did, you now have the first ever 44 TL with a late pre war Type 2 side plate mounted hammer block!

I suppose you used the 44 TL action parts and therefore you have the TL short action!

Jim,
Yes, I did use just about all of the TL internals with the
exception of the hand....needed it to work the hammer block.

Of course I had to ream the bushing for the larger center pin
of the TL cylinder assembly and mill the OD frame to
accommodate the cam plate and tweak the yoke a lit'l bit...

It was worth it it all, I do believe.
