Picked this one up today and very pleased to get it.
Serial number seems to indicate 1973 or 1974 production. However, the right grip panel has the SN stamp. I thought these production years postdated that practice by the factory?
Also noticed the Marcas Registradas stamp had the good old fat ampersand where the barrel does not. The bluing on the receiver is a very rich lustrous blue where the barrel is not nearly as polished or ''deep.'' I thought this a bit odd, but this piece is absolutely NIB with all the paperwork/goodies as original. This is almost like Smith built the receivers and attached barrels at a later date.
Bonus - when I examined the grips - the safety pin was found still resting in the frame.
Are these characteristics normal for the Centennials? Interested to know a bit more about what I bought.
Wife is baking in my usual picture spot - snapped a quick one on the counter.
