I saw these the other day. My 1911 VZ grips are always perfect. I'm sure fit will be good. But what about felt recoil? Are they too thin at the back like Altamont Ropers? My Pachmayrs are ugly but very practical.

I have VZs on my 681, too thin was my concern after I first saw them. Non issue for me and that one doesn't ever fire .38 special

I tend to run VZ grips on a few of my N frames. A 327, 627, and a 325. I run the Tactical Operators which are the most aggressively textured.

They fit my hand very well, and are a good compromise between retention and being able to make micro adjustments in my grip when preparing to draw. One change I make on all mine is to round the front edge with some sandpaper. I just find them to be a little pointed, and I prefer a more rounded profile. Takes about five minutes.

To me, the recoil of some .357 and .45 ACP is as much as I care to handle. My 625 Mountain Gun that shoots some heavy loads wears some Pachmayr Presentation grips for that reason.

In summary, .357 is right on the borderline for me with the VZ's. If you're a tough dude with good wrists and hands that isn't recoil sensitive, I think they'd be awright. Otherwise, ya' might take a pass on them. I myself am fairly middle of the road. I personally shoot 5K rounds or so of .38 Special a year with them and a few hundred rounds of .357 Mag and .45 ACP.

Those VZ’s look good but Pachmayrs are hard to beat for shooting comfort I have at least one set that would go on my K/L frames and I also have them for my N frames as well as my Pythons. Had a pair on my duty revolver for many years before switching to a 1911. And as you may have guessed had them on my 1911 too until I could afford to have my front strap checkered. I think they are great even though they aren’t much to look at
