I tend to run VZ grips on a few of my N frames. A 327, 627, and a 325. I run the Tactical Operators which are the most aggressively textured.
They fit my hand very well, and are a good compromise between retention and being able to make micro adjustments in my grip when preparing to draw. One change I make on all mine is to round the front edge with some sandpaper. I just find them to be a little pointed, and I prefer a more rounded profile. Takes about five minutes.
To me, the recoil of some .357 and .45 ACP is as much as I care to handle. My 625 Mountain Gun that shoots some heavy loads wears some Pachmayr Presentation grips for that reason.
In summary, .357 is right on the borderline for me with the VZ's. If you're a tough dude with good wrists and hands that isn't recoil sensitive, I think they'd be awright. Otherwise, ya' might take a pass on them. I myself am fairly middle of the road. I personally shoot 5K rounds or so of .38 Special a year with them and a few hundred rounds of .357 Mag and .45 ACP.
