Question for those that have Tyler, BK or Robertson T-Grips on their revolvers

I have a round butt S&W M19 and M66 with the original medallion grips that I'd like to keep on the guns. But I do like having a little more to grab onto with these guns when shooting them. I'm considering adding Grip Adapters to them but not sure which one would work best. I've heard that Tyler is very slow in delivering, BK is in black only and Robertson is the fastest but not the best fit. Any experience with these manufacturers?

Also, the M19 is in Nickel. Anyone that has these grip adapters notice any marring of the finish by using them?

I have the Robertsons on a Model 12 and the fit is good. They seem a little larger than the BKs I had on another revolver. Overall I'm satisfied.

Won't be long before the bashing begins.

First off the easy question for me is I have never tried one on nickel but have never noted any damage done to any other finish.

In regard to which one I prefer it is the Tyler. Yes, yes, yes they are slow. Yes, yes, yes someone will be along shortly to tell us all about how they are violating all kinds of laws by being slow. Yes, yes, yes I have heard their customer service is lacking in service. I have seen people say they didn't get theirs. I get all that. But I just place my order and sit back and wait how long it takes and never been disappointed.

But when it comes down to the fit and being made of metal then I just like them better.

Have never used BK, but I hear they are great. They are made of a polymer material and that has been why I have not used them. But from what I understand the fit is great, customer service is excellent and you can't beat the cost and deliver time. They are also made by one of our forum members here so all in all if you like the polymer that would be the way to go.

I have purchased the Robertson's and the fit was not good. In fact I gave them away on the forum after receiving them. The delivery is quick and they are priced right but I didn't like the fit.

That pretty much sums it up from my experience or lack there of.

Based on my experience, the Robertson is the worst of the 3. fit is so, so, and the finish isn't very polished.

I'd just order & wait for the original Tyler if you want stainless.

I’ve used Tyler and BK grip adapters.

Be careful: the Coke Bottle stocks fill in some of the space between the trigger guard and the front of the grip frame.

These adapters work with magna stocks and not much else. Any stocks that are larger than magnas and don’t leave the front strap of the gun uncovered won’t work.

Only had vintage Tyler's but I recently noticed a #3 broke a small chunk off my magna's on a 13-2 square butt. I was surprised to find that.

I have several T-Grips, but bought them all aftermarket from eBay.

I liked the BK I had, but it doesn't fit the vibe of the older guns for me. If I had a newer J frame I would go with them just for weight alone.

I started with Tyler's back in the 70's and still think they're probably the best, although I admit that I haven't seen a new one in about twenty-years.

I have owned several BK's since then, and am quite happy with them. Shipping is usually a couple of days. Black in the only color I've ever wanted, so that wasn't a disappointment.

I've only got one BK now, and I swap it back and forth between three different guns with Magna style grips. The two with factory grips it fits fine on, but one with aftermarket Magna type, it doesn't fit as well. Still works fine, just has a gap at the top.

I've never heard of the other one, so I can't help at all there.

I started this thread a while back, which some may find helpful: "T" grip adapter comparison thread

It's already been said, but I agree that the original/continuation Tylers are the best, but you have to be patient for current orders, or willing to pay the price for originals. BK are available, and an excellent fit, but only available in black or ivory plastic. Robertson are barely acceptable for fit/finish, but cheap and available.

Another very dissatisfied Robertson’s customer here. I wish the BK was available in a silver color for stainless guns but for the blue it’s great, an original Tyler is great.

Tyler T Grips

Here is a 2 1/2", no dash, 66 with a vintage (Melvin) Tyler T Grip and a set of Patrick Grashorn's finest.

+1 for BK. Ordered Tyler grips for an N-frame back in 2017 and am still waiting…they’ll never get another penny from me. BK on the other hand, affordable, fairly quick to ship and fit my N-frame just fine.

I would order the Tyler T-Grip for no other reason than it is available in polished aluminum to match your Nickel Model 19.

As others have said, be prepared to wait, or keep an eye on ebay and be prepared to pay a higher price.

326MOD10 said everything I would have said, but better.

If you have no problem with a polymer T-grip then get a BK. If you are like me and only metal will do, then either place a order with Tyler or pay the going price on GB/Ebay.

You mention Coke Bottle grips. These are target grips and none of these grip adapters will work wit the large target grips. They just don't fit. The adapters are made to go with Magna Grips.

Funny, that is where my thoughts ran! No grip adapter will work with a grip that covers the front strap.

Okay, now the OP has edited his statement but still does not define what stocks are on the revolver. Rockrivr1, can you post an image so we can quit guessing what you are trying to say?
