The K38 and K22s with boxes and the model 51 depending on condition were smoking deals.

In my opinion the Model 63 and Model 18 were good buys. Several older Beretta Series 81 series pistols brought strong money especially a 87BB with 3 mags, box and papers. Browning High Power and Rimfire rifles also brought good money. A number of Charter Arms .38 brought around 300 each. A lot to choose from in this auction.

My observations on local on-line gun auctions...

I am not a fan of selling via a small local on-line auction...first of all there are not enough pictures of each gun to truly see the condition...the "buyer's premium" and the "sellers premium" amounts are ridiculous...then there is the sales tax...I will give you a great example from personal experience...an acquaintance of mine (with little firearm experience) offered me a small 30 gun collection at prices above what he paid for them at local gun stores...he told me he was told that guns are a great investment with high gain...so he paid top price for them...I made him an offer which he refused...he contacted an on-line auction house that someone had told him was great...he consigned the collection thinking he was going to make a huge profit on them...he DID NOT...after the "seller's premium" he paid he lost a BUNCH of $ from what he had paid for them...he "took a bath" i.e. a VERY nasty bath...I would NEVER consign any guns I wanted to sell in a local on-line auction...Roger

This company does all sorts of auctions. Real estate, estate sales, coins, and usually has two gun/sportsman auctions a year. Been in business a long time. About 3 years ago they went from live to on line business model. Very well documented with pictures and descriptions for each lot. The gun guy who puts together the catalogue is very good. Google search auction company in Salem Va. and you will find them. They also keep past / closed auctions up so you see.

A 27-2 6 inch at 90+% condition with box for $780 after premium and tax? Holy Cow!! On GB that would just about be the all-in price…. for the box alone.

Wish I could find those kind of prices at the ever declining gunshows during the past few years. Most pawn shops and gun shops in my area are also still stuck on high prices for vintage Smith revolvers.

In general, the revolver winning bid price on most auction sites seems low but add the 15 to 20 % buyers premium plus shipping and handling and your FFL fee and then they are more costly than they seem. The pictures in some cases can also be deceiving. It's really a **** shoot, you win some, lose some. I'm not talking about GB's prices which are sky high and are designed for the uneducated buyer. As far as consignment goes, by selling individually, you probably will get a fair offer, not the highest one, but an honest one, from the knowledgeable buyers here on the forum.
