Bowen Rough Country Rear Sights

Has anybody replaced their rear sight with one of Bowen's Rough County rear sights?

If so, how do you like it?

I'd like to see close up pics if anybody can post some.

I'm thinking about replacing the stock rear sight on my 617.

They do look pretty nice. I have a Ruger Security Six that could use one. Too bad they don't make it for my model.

I am having Andy Horvath install one on a 625 he is customizing for me. The only thing I am not sure I will like is the windage adjustment it is two opposing screws not a click adjustment. Other than that the site is very easy to see has a great white outline and appears to be well made.

I installed a Rough Country sight on my 325 Night Guard after finding the issue sights were 6" left at 20 yards. I used the "V" sight and for me it's light years better than the C&S sight that came on the gun. It's much quicker to get on target and the index line helps in low light where the C&S is very hard to see well enough to get a decent sight picture.
It's not click adjustable, but it's designed to be much more rugged than the click adjustable sights.

Yeah, the Bowen sight appears to be well designed and I like the larger blade area. I guess the opposing screws will take a little getting use to but once I dial it in I probably won't change it.

I've also been looking at the Millett, LPA and Weigand (blade) but I keep coming back to the Bowen.

I've also been thinking about putting an SDM gold bead front sight on too.

If the Bowen sight is adjustable you won't need to change it. Their websight has a chart telling you the height of the front sight and the corresponding rear sight height you need. They didn't have a 3 inch 629 though.....so I might have to call them and see what they would recomend.

You may want to call them. That discussion came up on the Ruger forum and I think they actually make one that is compatible.

I won't need to change the front sight.......I'm just considering it. I've measured my stock sight blade and have used the information on Bowen's website to figure out which one I might get.

Ooooh, thanks! The rear sight on my Security Six is a bit banged up (was like that when I inherited it from my Dad) and something is not right with the windage. It's my Jeep gun and it'd be nice to have a better rear sight.

Now, do I want a rear notch or shallow V???

Notch with the factory front blade, v if you get some kind of "dot" front sight...
Please let me know what you find out as I also have a Security Six that could use a new rear sight.

I got one for Christmas. I've dry fired the gun a ton with it, but have only had it to the range once. It is NICE! Built like a tank (and attached with two screws to the topstrap), and that blade is large and flat. Like they said above: the windage adjustment takes some getting used to.

I decided to NOT go with one on my BCA Redhawk Alpine Conversion. I always thought it was a little too big and hangs back toward the hammer a bit too far. That Redhawk was my carry gun for some years and I never had one word of complaint about Ruger's rear sight.

Anyone have pictures of these sights on their own gun? I'd like to see it from more angles and seeing the whole gun. I'm interested in putting one on a 6½" 629 Classic.
