A 3" 360sc with Hogue Bantams on it in a Mika pocket holster. I'm very pleased with this combo and it carries very comfortably.

I had a 3" SP-101 that I pocket carried with a custom holster that I had, although it wouldn't fit in all of my pants, just some with deep pockets.

Does an ankle holster count? S&W 36-10. CTC grips. (Yeah, I know ... the holster's backwards. )

Hello chp,
indeed I used to carry a 3inch model 36 in the hip pocket of my leather hunting breeches. Wehn "it happened to me" and I'd rather clear leather as fast as poosible (charging wild hog and empty rifle), it did not work -.
Now I carry a three inch 686 or 696 in a Biachi 111 Cyclone or Sickinger G-man Holster but n e v e r in a pocket...
Best regards
Wisent

I hate it when some one asks a question like this. The answer is not simple. Most gun writers will agree with me in that pocket carry the most complex and dangerous form of concealment. Complex in that there are so many variables: height and weight of the subject, material and cut of the pants, material of the pocket, size and opening, gun weight, counter balance point, gun noise movement. Dangerous in that miscalculation with some of these factors will either let everyone know you are carrying or if the need for you to draw your weapon comes you might not be able to draw the gun before you are dead.

I have. It was a 3" model13.
It was a pretty convienient place to put my weapon when I wanted both my hands free and there wasn't a holster.
It fit and stayed put in front or back jeans pocket.
I have a 4" N frame that gets slipped into a pocket occasionally as well.

It's far from being concealed.
The 4" N frame grip hangs out there completely, and the 3" tucks completely into a front jeans pocket.
A holster is much better. All I can say is that they'll fit... Not a preferred carry method... Pretty slow to pull out of the pocket too, for a revolver with the hammer spur.
I do like pocket carry better than mexican carry however.
I've hiked for miles with my 3" K frame in my back pocket.

Carried a M13 3" k-frame for years and loved it. Once I realized what that k-frame was worth, I sold it and went to sommething different.

My 3" 657 just don't seem to fit into my Levis well :-).
Not a fan of that form of carry and don't know any of my friends who do it.

I can front pocket carry a 3" SP101 in most of my pants with deep pockets (e.g. khakis). I have a friend who sews reinforce the pockets with heavier fabric to keep from wearing holes in them. The more rounded contour and grip size of the SP works pretty well, but I can't easily do it with a K-frame.

I just picked up a M13 3" RB. A set of Pachmayr Compac's and dehorned hammer makes it ride inside the belt just fine. Today is the first carry day with the dehorned hammer, and I am loving it.

Well it's good you cleared that up, but this is a four year old thread.
But it's an interesting topic as I sometimes carry my 3" M60 in a pocket using a holster from Mika.
It conceals fine as I have deep pockets (not the financial kind).
But it's kind of heavy. I have a 3" M37 that would be easier to carry, but I'd have to remove something from my permit and then qualify with it. May be more hassle than it's worth, and I also have an LCR currently on the permit.

Ask your lady to tell you the honest truth about size and see what she says... Same applies to gun carry. Bigger is always better but its also all about how good you use it also too big can become a problem..

Your local dry-cleaners, can lengthen (deepen) a pocket, and/or reinforce it, and shape it anyway you want. I've had jeans pockets modified for other equipment as well.

I used to pocket carry a 3" 29 and 625, and a 3.5" 27. All were traded off years ago. This was in jacket pockets, like an M65 field jacket or winter parkas.
Just bought an L frame 396 .44 Special Mountain Lite, which has a 3" barrel. Have not started carrying it yet. Need some range time first.

I carry 3" revolvers in my front right pocket all the time, especially at home. Either a S&W 640 or an old Charter .44 Bulldog, both stainless, pocket hammers. I wad up a hankie or two in the bottom to support them from moving around and the rubber grip stays handy just out of sight but easy to grab. This doesn't work quite as well with a 2" like my Taurus snubbie because it rides deeper down. It really depends on which pants I'm wearing today.

I sometimes pocket carry in my 2.5 inch 386. Not ideal but definitely doable. Typically it will only be for a quick trip to the store or something. Otherwise if I intend to truly pocket carry all day I carry my 340PD.

I really like the 3" barrel j frame sized revolver. The thing just makes sense! Plus that extra inch wont make much more difference on carry options. At any rate its the prefered weapon system of Tim Roth and Honey Bunny when they rob cafes... Who would argue with Tim Roth???

This may sound strange, but I worked insurance claims for Katrina in New Orleans. I carried a model 629-1, 3" barrel in my front pocket everywhere I went. It was never noticed. It was loaded with full. 44 Magnum loads.
