Sad that someone has to get their education the hard way . . . .

I’m always scared when any description looks like it was written by a five year old kid. It would be no different to me if it was my dinner menu.

“Stake coookd meedum rar wif sid off bakt pototo and yer choys off vegytabl. Prise ar 29.999 orr by too fer mo.”

Nope, I wouldn’t eat there, and I wouldn’t have bid on that even if I was a SEAL that used one and had the money falling out my butt… I may use poor grammar from time to time, but descriptions like that just scare me.

I don't know who I feel more sorry for, the poor guy who bought it or idiot who sold it.

I feel more sorry for the guy who bought it, because I fairly sure the guy who sold it had been told the straight of it before he sold it.

I am probably the only one that needs it, but could someone point out the false statements in the ad.
Still trying to learn.

Pretty much the whole description after S&W. Kinda' like the old adage about politicians lying if their lips are moving.

I wonder why, given the description, the seller maintains an A+ rating? I've never purchased a gun through Gunbroker and would be less likely to now given this. Who can you trust?

This then begs the question; if you're going to take your gun out
for a walk, should you put on a trigger SHOE?

Good luck

I've bought 13 guns so far on GunBroker and several more on GunsAmerica with very few problems. One unfluted supposedly all-original 686 arrived with nice aftermarket copies of smooth S&W target stocks and the seller paid me for genuine replacements. He had purchased the gun many years ago from a collector's estate, never fired or handled it and didn't notice the phony emblems. And a Remington Model 700 barreled action arrived with a damaged trigger and the seller paid my gunsmith to replace it.

So far, so good! I honestly enjoy shopping on GunBroker. But I only bid a gun if the seller offers an inspection period or agrees to one in writing.

Whenever I see the word RARE in the description I become suspicious. Most reputable sellers will let you decide if the item is rare or not.

I have purchased several guns on Gunbroker from dealers that had store fronts without a problem. I agree that using "rare" is a red flag. Also the idea of bonded ivory grips having real ivory is a joke.

But the sadest was all the bids placed. So many people had no clue.

AS badly as I want and need a nice Model 18, 22, revolver, I can't bring myself to bid on one of the Gunbroker items. Can't seem to find one locally. I hate to buy the NEW model but may have to. I'm just looking for a good shooter that's tight and a good barrel because I'm gonna pour lead through it.

Glad to (shudder):

1. There are no documented "stainless" model 19s, nor any that I think would letter as being shipped to the Naval Special Warfare Command. This one looks like a standard nickel model 19-3, with faded case colors on the hammer and trigger (a stainless gun would have flash chromed parts). It is also possible it is a mis-stamped model 66, but the authenticity issue still applies. There is documented use of 4" model 66s by the SEALs, but prior to this I believe model 15s were issued.
2. It has modified factory RB Combat stocks of much later vintage; no way it would have shipped with these, or them being worth $150-200 so altered.
3. The Performance Center did not exist at the time this gun was produced.
4. Bonded ivory stocks are not 100% ivory, my understanding is they are made with powdered ivory plus ivory-like synthetic material.

At least the shipping price was reasonable. Hope this is helpful.
