If someone with The Book could let me know what it says about my new (to me) 627-PC I'd very much appreciate.

What I do know: late 90s likely, unfluted cylinder, 5" tapered profile bbl, serrated backstrap, no lock, 8-shot.

serial no.: BDM0###

Big thanks in advance!!

You are describing product code 170116 which would have been manufactured in 1998 if my memory is correct.

If you have the box, what is the spec ord number? That will give you a precise date for your revolver.

You might want to search the Forum, there was a thread on this same model revolver a month or two ago.

Thanks for the info Colt_SAA!

You might want to search the Forum, there was a thread on this same model revolver a month or two ago.

I had started a thread about this gun I bought (I think before I even agreed to buy it) looking for info a few weeks ago. I suspect this is the thread you're referring to.

I received a bunch of good responses based on what little info I could provide that the seller had told me. I did not have the serial number at the time (nor did the owner have the original box, unfortunately).

Now that I look back at the thread, you offered a guess, "That should have PMA as the serial number prefix." I started this new thread after I received the gun and found the serial number was different than the one you suspected. I wasn't sure if the proper serial number would turn up any new information.

I see they both have the same product code so I assume my serial number and the previous guessed one are the exact same gun feature-wise, just different production runs. Although I'm obviously not a S&W expert by any means.

Thanks again for the new info!!
