Does anybody else use these? I have a mismatched pair that I picked up for $10 and use on my pocket carry 640. The left panel is the fancy checkered pattern and the right panel is the standard checkered pattern. They extend the grip further back which is good news for me. The standard finger grooved boot grip that comes with the 357 Mag. 640's is kinda too small. The herrett's give you a higher hold on the gun and seem to point better too. Just not crazy about the grooves cut in the back of the grips when shooting the 357 mag. rounds.

Do you have a pic? I have the mass produced Herrett stocks in J, K and N Frame sizes. I find them used and often not in the greatest condition. They have deep checkering on the sides and grooves in the front. The backstrap is open and they extend down below the bottom of the grip frame. I'm not sure if they are the Shooting Ace or what. Maybe something called the Detective? I have always wondered just what they are. To me they are useless in factory configuration but quite outstanding for concealment once I grind off the checkering and grooves and cut them even with the bottom of the grip frame.

The first time I saw them, I wondered how someone got Colt stocks to fit a S&W. I liked the look. Upon learning what they were, I was on the lookout for some and have managed to find sets for both round and square-butt J-frames. I've not put them on a gun yet, so can't comment on carry/shooting with them, just some goodies tucked away.
