I found a new 632 at a little gun shop for $499 while out Christmas shopping. It's MSR from S&W is $980, so for half the suggested retail price I treated myself. It has a three inch ported barrel on the J-frame that shoots the new 327 caliber. My question is can you shoot a regular 32 long or just the 327 Federal in this revolver?Anyone out there know for sure if I'm limited to the hard to find 327 Federals?

You can shoot .32 S&WL and .32 H&RM, too. Just brush the chambers clean of crud before you insert a longer case, whether going from .32 H&RM to .327 Fed Magnum or .32 S&WL to .32 H&RM or .327 Fed Magnum. The '.327' is part of the name - and has no relation to bullet size - it's still ~.312".

Congratulations on a deal! The 3" comped 632 was $499 from a distributor last autumn... that was a good price. My 2 1/8" 632 Pro, new in September, was a lot more...

Yes you can shoot just about any 32 ammunition in your 632. This is one of the neatest revolvers S&W has come out with recently, and the distributors have been blowing them out at hugely discounted prices. The 327 Magnum cartridge is a good one and a true Magnum. I like the versatility of being able to shoot so many 32 loads in it. Enjoy yours.

Thanks guys, I haven't been to the range yet with the holidays keeping me at home, but can not wait to try this little revolver out.

I don't think I've ever seen one like that. Some kind of limited edition? Is that barrel ported?

It has a ported barrel with an exspansion chamber, very different to say the least. The thing is a blast to shoot (pun intended) and very very accurate. Found this one in an Indiana shop for $479, they had 3 more that my friends eagerly scooped up. I do believe it was a distributor special.

There are a dozen of these wonderful little revolvers posted on Gun Broker right now. Some are priced high but a few are very reasonable.
Some big distributor must be blowing these out just to get rid of them. I'm glad I got mine.

According to S&W's web-site it looks to be a "Ellett Brothers" version of their first .327 offering.

Product: Model 632 Power Port

I picked up one of the black "Carry Comps" when they first came out, which looks to be the same only with a different finish, mine's black. I would rather have the Ellett Brothers version myself.....

Here's a shot of mine for those who may not be familiar with the 632-1, shown with other revolvers chambered for the .327 Fed Mag.......

After the above photo was taken I sold the Charter Arms and have since picked up the newer 632-2, shown below.

Edited to add: Since I already have this photo hosted for another .327 thread and the OP was asking about ammo I figured let's add it.

From L to R: .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Magnum, .327 Federal Magnum

My 2 1/8" 632 Pro, sporting some 60 Pro grips, has made me want a 4" non-comp version with an adjustable rear sight and a HiViz front sight.

The SS 3" 632 was considered - but, it's 3" barrel is comped - making it's effective barrel length the same as my 632 Pro. I tried to get a Charter Arms 'Patriot' target .327, but they have been closed out and are gone now. Most folks seem to be abandoning the .327 Federal Magnum. Pity - my 632 Pro - with those 115gr Speer Gold Dots - is definitely a 'Magnum'. They should be effective - and the 632's carry six of them, too. The marked down SS 3" 632's seem to have dried up now, too.

January 5'th and it was 50 degrees here in western Illinois, so a trip to the range sounded like a good idea. Just for fun I put a box (50) of 32 S&W longs thru my 632. This is a great practise round with super light recoil and a lot cheaper than 327 Magnums. The more I shoot my 632 the more I realize just how versatile this chambering is.

I keep holding my breath for a 4 inch k frame in 327. I almost got a 632 at christmas but Santa Claus got me a USFA in 45 colt instead!!
