I'm trying to find an owb holster for a Rossi 44 spl w/ a 4" barrel and non-fluted cylinder. It's supposed to fit a k frame holster but everyone I've seen is formed for a fluted cylinder. Help!

Any holster made for a 4 in. K or L frame S&W will work. I wouldn't worry about the forming for the flutes. They'll iron themselves out in time. That Rossi is a VERY nice carry gun. Good find. Wish I had bought one when they were common and cheap.

75Vette:

My Model 720 is the "Covert" version with the bobbed hammer and fixed sights. The barrel length on mine is 3.0 inches, and it fits K-framed sized holsters nicely.

Dave

Dave,

Are those Rossi specific Pachmayr grips on your M720? I recently gave my M720 to my oldest son, and I think he would like grips like those.

Thanks!

Rick

Hi Rick:

To my knowledge, Pachmayr is the only manufacturer of after-market grips for the Rossi Model 720. A fellow Forum member once posted photos of his Model 720 equipped with a set of Hogue (rubber) Mono-grips. When questioned, he said he purchased the revolver used, with the Hogues in place. He was kind enough to remove the grips and said they were J-frame sized grips. On my Model 720, there is a pin protruding from the bottom of the frame that prevents the Hogues from being mounted. I suppose the pin could be cut or ground off (replacing it shouldn't be difficult), and this may end up being a winter project for me. I shoot the old cowboy .44 Special rounds out of mine (200 gr. bullet moving slow), and I still need some better fitting grips for the piece.

Regards,

Dave
