This is not a complaint, I'm thankful to have the 610 that I've been looking for, and it's a keeper. Just got this beautiful 4" 610-2 (product code is 103751) from a forum member through trade. I have noticed that there is no company logo to be found on the gun. It should be laser etched under the cylinder release. Has anyone come across a 610 or any other Smith revolver without a factory logo stamp or laser etching??
Maybe this one just slipped by the inspector, but my first thought was that someone removed the shallow etching. I checked both sides with a straight edge under a light...everything looks fine. The pics don't reveal any etching removal either.
I have seen longer barrel Classic models with a large logo etched on the side plate...maybe a side plate swap???

One thing I really like about these 610s is the interchangeable front sight...it will soon have a Hi-Viz green. It came with the Millet rear sight. Was planning on range time yesterday, but as always something else put those plans on the shelf.

Actually, I believe someone else posted about a gun without a logo not that long ago. I do not remember the caliber. I would expect that one would slip out sometimes, but not often.

Congratulations
I know you've been looking for awhile.
Not sure what's up with the logo, but I'm glad you finely snagged one. Let us know how it shoots.

I'll look for that post. Thanks

Thank you!! Hopefully next weekend i can get some range time.

Nice gun but I have a toughtime believing any left the factory without a logo sramp or etching. Misstamped model numbrrs are 1 thing but the manufacture stamp is another. How many chevys you think ever left the production line without a bow tie?

seems odd to me too...but apparently it happens. a side plate swap is far more likely

Here's a picture of my 610-4, and as you can see, it has what I believe to be a "printed on" logo under the cylinder latch. (It's definitely NOT "etched" into the metal, it's "raised" above the surface of the metal).

I haven't monkeyed around with it, but in taking a closer look, I can see that a small part of the logo is rubbed off under the "trade" lettering. I imagine it wouldn't take much polishing with Mother's or Flitz (or perhaps even a strong solvent such as Acetone) to remove it completely. My bet is that's what was done to your gun (assuming that the -2's had the same logo as my -4).
