Can anyone give me an idea of the current value of an original, unfired Stealth Hunter? This was purchased in 2001 and has the birdsong green finish with no lock. Don't know about MIM parts.

If you could post some pictures we could tell you if it had MIM parts. By 2001 the new style frames, with MIM parts, were widely adopted across all of S&W's model lines. However, the Performance Center continued to use the old style frame and all forged parts, off and on, on certain models, for a few more years.

This is a M629 right? I don't know price, but I'm guessing $1500 plus with box, unfired. If you can, post a picture of the box end label.

New Stealth Hunters around here can be had for under $1400. This gives you a Lifetime warranty as the original owner. Don't see a Birdsong Finish in a current production model as a collector gun so value should be fairly relative.

You are absolutely right about the new ones. I see them on Gunbroker occasionally. But I haven't seen any of the original ones lately. There should be a premium for the no-lock feature but I am sure what it is. In my opinion, the original ones look better than the current.

The "lock" on a hunting revolver is generally a non-issue, except for hard core "lock-haters", thus as opposed to range and SD/HD revolvers, the "premium" for no-locks is not as substantial as is condition and demand for that specific model. The green Birdsong Green Finish is a lot like the IL. Folks either don't mind it or hate it. Very few love it. Find someone who likes it and they may pay a premium for it, otherwise I don't see it adding much if any value to the gun. I certainly wouldn't pay extra for it, nor would I pay extra for a used, current production hunting revolver over the price for a new one that comes with a lifetime warranty. JMTCs. I'm sure others may disagree.

I know its an old post . I just picked this one up and was wondered if prices have gone up or down on these since 2014. This one is 1 of 500 made in 2002.

The birdsong finish is much rarer than the mass produced black finish Stealth Hunters and with the aluminum case yours would probably go for $1500 & up all depending on how bad that certain buyer wants it.The PC guns have their own niche market.
Nice gun BTW!!
