Does anyone know if the grips on the new S&W 66 Combat Magnum will fit a model 66-2 square butt? For a rubber grip I think it looks better than the Pachs and Hogues, plus it covers the backstrap.

The current smiths and those from early mid 90s forward have RB frames. Highly unlikely I'd ever buy a smith with such grips, but if I did I'd remove mail them to you ASAP! Just another indication of S&W et al cutting costs. Bet they don't cost smith $5 per gun. Same with companies, including Sauer, Mauser, Sako, etc., using injection-molded stocks on rifles selling well north of $1K. Junk!!!

Have you looked at the Uncle Mike combats for the K-frame square butt? I like them better than either the Pachs or the Hogues. They do cover the backstrap. Only downside is they're no longer made. You have to buy used or finds some new-old-stock. There was a TON of them made over many years, so they're not hard to find.

The new 66 is round butt; their grips are round to (sort of) square. To the best of my knowledge, they won't work with an older square butt model.
