I am thinking about ordering a set of Spegels, but I have a few questions for the people that already own them:

1- How are they with speed loaders? I'm finding that J frame grips and speed loaders pretty much hate each other.

2- How is the width, does anyone have a rear photo of theirs that shows the contour of the grips?

3- Hows the pinky, is it homeless? Not that it matters much to me, but I do like on my hogue boot grips I can actually get a teeny bit of my pinky on the grip.

1. They are fine with all speedloaders.

2. They have palm swells but overall are quite thin.

3. Pinky is homeless with regular boot grips but you can order extended boot grips that provide a home for it.

These might give you some perspective on the shape of the standard boots from Craig...

Another idea, Craig also designed the Uncle Mike's boot grip, they are close to his wood versions, they might be a tad thinner, but should give you an idea of what his boot grips are all about if you can get your hands on a pair.

Last, just a comment, while he can make extended boot grips for you, in my opinion - while they would provide comfort they would also have a little "less" concealability. Depending on your carry choice, anything longer/bigger will just make your J frame a bit bigger, it's always a trade off, the smaller they are the better they hide, but provide a bit less comfort when shooting... FYI

Ditto...been using his grips since the mid-80s on J,K,L and N frames...must have a dozen pair......

Boot grips on guns with 2-3 inches barrels for concealed ..... Extended grips on 4 and 6 inch guns.

The only exception is on my 3" 60-10 "Kit gun" I use a set of extended round butt grips

Just reinforcing what others have said.

I have Spegel boot grips on my 642-1. I have no interference issues with Safariland Comp I speedloaders.

Whether your pinky finger is homeless or not depends on your hand size. I have the standard length Spegel boot grips and my pinky finger is about half-on/half-off. Spegel does offer grips that are 1/4" longer, which would actually be perfect for me. FYI, I'd say my hand size probably falls somewhere between glove sizes small and medium.

If your pinky finger is homeless, one trick that could help is to curl your pinky finger under the grip.

Here's a picture of my first 642-1 with Spegel boot grips, rear view (ignore the badly worn backstrap finish):

Personally, I think the palm swell is the best feature of the grips. They fill my hand for better control and I think the increased surface area distributes recoil forces better, yet they're not bulky at all.

Wait time, last I heard, was about a year.
