Added another Mountain Gun to the lot, 629-4, Had to search for this beauty, Wanted the -4, there seems to be more -2's out there. The -4's I did fine were all pricey and well worn. Found this one on Gun Broker on a buy it now for 750.00, original box and all the documents.
I am now in search of a 686-5 MG, pre lock. Any help finding one of these would be appreciated.

Congratulations, $750.00 is a great price! I've been looking for a 629 mountain gun but missed that one.

THAT'S A REAL SCORE--CONGRATULATIONS ! ! !

THE 686 MGs, APPEAR TO BE SCARCE. I VERY RARELY SEE ONE COME UP FOR SALE, ON THE INTERNET, OR IN PERSON. I AM FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO OWN ONE, AS WELL AS A 629, AND A 625 IN .45 COLT......

I WAS NEVER ABLE TO LOCATE A 625 MG IN .45 ACP---ALTHOUGH I KNOW THEY DO EXIST. I PURCHASED A 4" PRE LOCK, MODEL OF 1989, IN .45ACP, INSTEAD. IT IS MY MOST ACCURATE 4", S&W REVOLVER, AND HAS THE BEST BONE STOCK TRIGGER, OF THEM ALL.....

RUMOR HAS IT THAT THEY MADE THE MG IN .22LR CALIBER. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO VERIFY THIS, NOR HAVE I EVER SEEN ONE, IN A PIC OR IN PERSON......

GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY, I WOULD SNAP UP A MG IN .45 ACP OR .22LR, IMMEDIATELY. THE MG IN .41 MAGNUM, DOES NOT INTEREST ME AT ALL. I DO NOT HAND LOAD, AND THAT CALIBER DOES NOT ACCOMPLISH ANY GOAL THAT I CAN'T ACHIEVE, WITH ONE OF MY EXISTING GUNS......

She's a beauty. Love the grips, not only functional but compliments the SS too!

Sorry, but l cant get all warm and fuzzy over Mt Guns. l have a 629 and

625 in 45 Colt.. They are NOT nearly as accurate or pleasant to shoot as

my 3'' 629 Classic or Model 24 3'' FOR ME... 0ne of the current 4'' 625s

in 45ACP would be a much better choice imop...

They are too light at the muzzle with that whippy-like pencil barrel.. l just got the 625 Mtn Gun in Dec..

l even offered it to Mr 75vette.. He said, ''Noooooo'' :-( Joe, l will pm you when lts up for sale..

l hope you will bid on it, and bid O F T E N!!

THAT'S QUITE ALRIGHT, sw282, NO NEED TO APOLOGIZE. YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINIONS.....

AT LEAST, YOU WON'T BE BIDDING AGAINST ANY OF US MOUNTAIN GUN LOVERS, ON ANY GUN AUCTION SITES.....

I put Mountain Guns in the "cool" category. Yeah, they smack your hand just like when your Dad smacked your rear end when you were a kid ( and sw282 I bet you got yours smacked ALOT!), but they are very cool to own. The tapered barrel has made several revolvers look cool AND shoot pretty darn good. The 27-2, 28-2, 624 & 24-3 are a few.
Back in the day I rode a shovelhead with 24" apehangers that made NO sense at all but it was the coolest bike in town!! :D:cool:

I want a mountain gun and just saw a 625-9 mountain gun posted on a local forum for $550!!! I sent the seller a message but it was posted around 5:40 this afternoon. More then likely it's sold already.

1911-10MM, that is a nice Mountain Gun. Congratulations.

My wife bought me this Model 625-9 "Mountain Gun" in 45 Colt back in 2006. I shoot Cowboy Action Shooting using 45 Colt, reload 45 Colt, and have ready ammo for my Mountain Gun. Love how well that revolver shoots.
