I'm looking for opinions on the current value of a 586-4 RB w/4" barrel. This is a 6 shot revolver so I guess it makes it a K frame. No box or paperwork. Function and finish appear to be in fantastic shape. This will be a range toy but could ride in my truck on an occasional road trip. I recently posted about buying a new 586 L-COMP w/3'' barrel but just could not move past the looks of the front site pushed back due to the ported barrel. Thanks!

I'm not sure what thy are currently selling for, but a 586 is an L frame regardless of cylinder capacity. They are excellent guns and capable of handling a steady diet of .357 Magnum ammo.
Glad to know they are ALL L frames! After I posted my question I started searching past threads from earlier this year. I'm kind of guessing $800-$1000.? But sill like to hear from the experts.

Not sure how much difference the dash numbers make in pricing; don't see all that many 586s for sale where I shop. Sold the only one I had, a 4 inch blue 98+% no dash a week or two ago for $900 for whatever that info is worth. Someone is sure to ask "why would you sell the only 586 you have?" I really wanted a Barrett Fieldcraft .308 and the guy who had it really wanted a 586. . . .

In the condition you describe I would say $750 if just the revolver. $800-1000 if in original box. Hard one to find in new condition these days. The 4" barrels go for more the the 6".

I think you found a much nicer Revolver than that other thing.

If you can get the Blued 586 357Mag 4" for what you believe as
a reasonable price to YOU, I would get it.

Those Blued 586's are a Revolver all can identify with and appears
to have a Cult Following. Much liked.

Blued Mdl 586's are hard to come by, thousands were made,
but they are such a nice Revolver, that owners just don't give
them up.

Condition of the Revolver is everything. Take Cash ($750), and
lay it out in front of the Seller, if all checks out ok.

The Best to you and your Endeavors.

Stainless Steel 6" version below.

I’m not a fan of ported/comped barrels either, especially ones how you described.
Also, I’m not any help on determining value, price, etc.
I will say my blue 586-1 is not for sale, if that helps any. Pic is just how I bought it. Came with grips but no box, etc.

Grips also help determine the value because some of these could have grips worth half of what the revolver itself is worth. Even if it has rubber grips I think you are describing a 586 worth at least $650. In fact, I saw a 586 priced at that yesterday at GT Distributors in Chattanooga.

As others have stated, condition, grips and loose or boxed will play a role in the price of the revolver.

You said fantastic shape and no box, what style of grips? Rubber stock Hogue or wooden combats? Another price factor. Correct me if I’m wrong, being a -4, it should be round butt but could be square butt. I don’t really know if there were any early -4 square butts but there may be a few. I would agree the 4” is a tougher find then the 6”.

With rubber grips and lower end wood combats $700-900. Higher end wooden combats, add $200-$300 to the numbers above.
