I thought I would throw this out as a conversation starter. In your opinion what 629-x would you find most desirable or seek out the hardest if money was not an obstacle. Also why if you know.

I have many many, many..

1. 1st one would be a No dash Pinned barrel N prefix number in 4" and/ or 8 3/8". Just to have an example of a transition from blued as the primary seller to SS.

2. A 2.5 "snubby by Lew Horton in 1999 pre lock prod code 170135. 300 made or the 2.5" pre lock for Camfour Prod Code 103839 in 2000.. or both:). These were 2 of very very few 2.5" guns S&W made in the 629 configuration. I think there was 1 more product code. but I am not positive.

Anyone else have favorites they would like to have?

I came across my grail 629 last year in the form of the 629-3 Mag Comp II. This one is has a product code of 170026, one of 100 produced in 1993.

I have some factory jobs, and really custom one....

629 no dash - Jovino EFFECTOR Top photo, far left
Ignore the Parkerized custom 58 in 44 mag (it is not a 629 and doesn't count)
629-5 Camfour 2 5/8 fixed sights Top photo far right
629-3 Carry Comp
not pictured - 629-4 Mountain Gun

The one that I traded to Rick Houston for a 4" Mod. 28-2. It is a 3" 629!

Hope Rick is enjoying it!

I am in severe jealousy over that 2 1/2 Camfour. The Jovino too but thats unobtanium. Actually I would like to have all of them. I have the Mountain Gun. 629-4 and the 629-2 Mountain revolver.

My only 629 grail guns were a -4 Mountain gun and 3” 629-1, I now have 2 of each. There are a lot of other cool 629s, but for me the MG and 3” have the utility and aesthetic I wanted.

I have been searching for the 629-2, 7 1/2" classic. Full lug, non-fluted cylinders with counter bores. I've only seen one many, many years ago. Have all the other barrel lengths in that configuration except for that one that eludes me..

629-3 3” PC Carry Comp II

There has been plenty of 629s that have come and gone. But when I had the chance to acquire this grail gun, I knew I had to go after it. I have no plans on letting this one go anytime soon.

686PC, nice to see yours.
