I was looking for some "shooting" grips for my new 629 Deluxe RB as the factory wood stock feel very "thin" at the palm.
Based on some recommendations and reviews (and price), I bought a set of Pachmayr Diamond Pro grips and received them today. Reading the instructions, I was surprised to find that I have to knock out the grip locating pin before sliding the grip into place. Then there is a screw that goes in low on the grip...I presume THROUGH the frame hole for the locating pin.
Any experience with these? I wasn't expecting to need to "modify" my revolver for the grips. If I take out the pin, will it readily go back without become loose? Switching back and forth with the originals won't be as simple as usual, which wasn't what I was looking for. If these are really good shooting grips, maybe I won't feel like I want to change back and forth.
