Local has a Nickel 10-8 with 4" Heavy Barrel with Magna grips. No box. It looks to be in decent condition in the photos - I have not looked at the revolver in person. Asking price is $700. Yes or no or ?

I would have a hard time paying more than $500 for ANY model 10. Maybe that's why I don't have one, seems like everyone wants $700 for them. Not worth it to me, I would rather have a model 19 for that money. Also, I suspect that wide trigger. May be original, but probably an add on, and what else did they mess with in there?

A couple years ago, I sold a nickel M10-5 with box and docs from The Detroit PD for $625. It was unfired (burn marks on every other chamber from testing at Smith).

I wouldn’t pay that much for a 10-5 (or a 10-8) if it was actually used, had no box or docs.

The seller is overly ambitious if he thinks he can sell the 10-8 for $700. At best, it’s a $500 dollar gun.

Agree way too high. Best I would do if I really wanted a nickel HB might be 550.

I have mentioned in other posts I do have to reset my mental price calculator - it seems like yesterday used model 10’s were under $200.

I saw a nice condition model 12 the other day for $400 and felt it was too much, but probably not. If it is still languishing at the next gun show, I need to jump on it

To me, that looks to be a pretty nice Smith and Wesson. Nickel was perhaps 10%? of production of any given model (though those percentages are a. unknown for sure, and b. no doubt varied among the many models).

So, if you’re in the market for a handsome nickel model 10, that might do. My own pristine nickel 10–6 is extremely accurate/shoots to point of aim and is a gem. Bought it with no box many years ago for around $350.

Wishing you best of luck. Sorry this goes against the grain of numerous comments. As always, YMMV.
