I have a S&W 642 UC. Though the grips that come on it are nice (nice looking), I don’t like the fact that I can’t get my pinky finger on them. I’ve put a set of Hogue’s on it and they do feel good but I’m looking for other suggestions for grips that are large enough to fit your pinky on but not too large to take away its conceal ability. Any suggestions, especially with pics, would be appreciated.

Thank you

S&W 642 UC grip suggestions?

I use Pachmayr grips, the Professional and Compaq.

The Compaq's recommended by NCBeagle work well. Another choice (and my own favorite) are the original Uncle Mike's combats. They're not made anymore but they're on ebay all the time.

Grips happen to be a very personal thing

That is why I keep J-Frames on hand with many different grips for when I teach classes. Allows the students to pick up and try what feels comfortable in their hands

The pink and the purple grips In the image above are probably the largest for the J-Frames. Those are the Hogue LE grips. In this case the abbreviation LE stands for laser enhanced

Personally, I do not care where my pinky goes and I tend to use the Crimson Trace model 405 which can be seen on my Smith and Wesson 340 in the lower left corner

I'll toss this out there. Might not fit the "pinky finger" requirement. Old School Uncle Mike's boot grips. Always one of my favorites.

I change grips to accommodate different carry set-ups. Have to wear a suit for the next few days, so no appendix carry. This 432UC will ride in a Wilderness Tactical Renegade ankle holster. Shorter grip helps it disappear. Wish that UM would make this and the larger UM combat grip again.

Are you looking for rubber or would you also consider wood? For a 3-finger J frame grip in wood there are some US-made mass-produced options as well as several custom makers. More expensive than the rubber options but it really increases your options by considering wood.

Just personal opinion of course, but the whole point of a alloy J frame is deep concealment, and full size 3 finger grips go counter to that concept.
Curl the little finger under the short grips and learn to shoot that way.
If you insist on a 3 finger grip, I can’t recall who makes them, but there is a grip out there that has a little pop down button activated extension that looks like the mag extensions for semi autos which might be an option without compromising concealment
My J’s have either the original wood plus a T grip, or I like hamre forge grips also ( no 3 finger grip there either)

For me, the greatest utility is a Crimson Trace CT350 (red) or CT 350G (green) laser grip. There are times when you may not have time or be able to get your eye lined up with the sights, due to many factors of a SD type situation. With a laser grip, you can still make well placed shots.

CT has smaller laser grips, but I wanted the green one, which only comes in the 350 model. These will be going on a 632 UC.

I bought my similar 432UC partly, due to the grips it has:
Wholesale Firearms / Shooting Sports Distributor - Exclusive Firearms - Handguns, Shotguns, Rifles, Silencers, Shooting Sports Accessories - Lipseys.com
I don't mind not having my pinkie finger used on its grip as the shorter grip aids in concealment.

I thank Post 2 for its reply and wasn't aware VZ had a full-grip version.

On some (3 of my other J-frames) of my other J-Frames, I too use Pachmayr's full grip "Compac" version, but it does make for a larger package of J-frame w/stocks.
