Welcome to the Forum! Your Model 13-3 (s/n AZH xxx9) was manufactured in 1988 (per the "Standard Catalog of S&W 4th Ed."). That would make it a late production Model 13-3 since the Model 13-4 version was also released in 1988. The Model 13, aka .357 Magnum Military & Police Heavy Barrel, was first introduced in 1974. The 4" heavy barrel was a square butt revolver with service type magna walnut stocks (grips) with S&W medallions, and had an unshrouded extractor rod under the barrel. Originally the Model 13 was P&R (pinned barrel and recessed cylinder holes), but those features were eliminated with the release of the Model 13-3 in 1982. The Model 13s are popular revolvers, particularly with LEOs and for those folks that like the square notch rear sights. If your 13-3 has some police dept. or other agency stampings, that would increase its value. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
