I bought a new 610 last week. I had to order it in as the shop said basically "no one is crazy enough to shoot 10mm and 40 S&W in a revolver. We sell a few 45 acp and 9mm revolvers but that will never move". I assured him that was what I wanted. he asked if I was sure about a 4" and I told him that is what holsters I had in abundance.
As you can see I am not the worlds finest photographer. The throats measured 0.400" with my pin gauges, there were no visible burrs or finish scratches.
At the range I shot a variety of 40 S&W.
145 gr Lee conventional lube with 7.3 gr power pistol grouped about 2 1/4 " at 15 yards. That was when I found the height adjustment screw was bottomed so hard I wondered if I might break it. It moved fine.
I shot the Lee 175 conventional lube with 6 gr PP and it liked the heavier bullets a little better, grouping about 1 1/2".
I also got an estate a while back with 1700 180 gr berry's fp and 1000 200 gr fp. I shot these over 6 gr Ramshot Silhuette and VV 10b101. Silhuette gave me a 2" group the surplus vv was larger.
10mm with the Lee 175 pc'd and over 12 gr AA9 [WC820 surplus] grouped higher and was also under 2" at 15 yards and nearly the same @ 25 yards. All groups were from a rest on an uncomfortable table.
I see the 40 as a substitute for the 38-40 that killed deer and smaller game 100 years ago. The 10 mm is for "Bear get off me loads" deer to 80 yards or more and elk at bow ranges. The 3 moon clips shipped with the gun were handy and capable and this may be the fastest method for reloading a revolver. Cost to me was $1050 picked up in person, looked over and out the door. MT has no sales tax nor fee for a background check.
