Default Trigger work for mod el 1006

I recently acquired a very nice model 1006 from another member. I have wanted a 10 mm for quite some time. Let me say I am not disappointed. I love it! As far as the recoil that I have heard so much fuss about, I think way too much has been made of it. It could be that the 1006, being a heavier gun, helps to dampen that. I found the gun surprisingly accurate, however the one thing I am hoping for, is that something can be done to improve the trigger pull. There is a lot of movement prior to discharge. I did not notice that there was as much afterwards. So, here is my question. Are these triggers workable? Are they adjustable and can they be improved or, do I have to learn to deal with what I have? Any help (advise) would be appreciated.

In single action there is a lot of "pretravel". There are two ways to get around it. Either have work done, which may or may not remove much of the travel, or learn to control the trigger reset.

By reset I mean the around of forward travel in the trigger after the shot breaks. My Department stresses this as a way to prevent "slapping" the trigger and upset the sight picture. It does take some getting used to, but in the end if you can master the technique you'll be rewarded with some great control over a fine gun. I carried a 4506-1 for years when I walked footbeats in Watts.

Trigger control is very important. Trigger pull can be improved to break crisper, but if this is for carry keep the trigger on the heavy side and master it. 10mm loads have been backed off over the years from when the guns first were introduced. Some are barely hotter than the .40 load. Buffalo Bore is one manufacturer that offers a load similar to the original FBI load when introduced.
