I was looking at buying some loading blocks for my 22 revolvers, but the price seemed too high to me. So, I pulled out the calipers and made a template. I glued the template to a rescued bit of wood, and then drilled the corresponding holes.
I used a 1/4" drill bit, which allows for the cartridges to wiggle quite a bit. However, with my poor eye and carpentry skills, that meant that being off a little with the drill didn't ruin the loader. I suspect that a 10-round block would need to more closely match the the bit with the .226" diameter of the 22.
I used an HKS speedloader with this template. In order to load, I found that the center of each cylinder block load had to be drilled as well, so that the barrel of the HKS speedloader would not interfere with loading. Other speedloaders may not have this issue.
Maybe someone has already done this, but I could not find a template on the interwebs. I plan on doing the same thing for the 6-shot j-frame in 22 (Done see post three of this thread). I can do others if anyone is interested. PM me.
