I have a M66 2.5" with a pinned front sight (picture below). Anyone have any idea where I can locate replacement pins. I found some at Brownels site that I think will work but I'm not sure. They don't list the M66 but they do say it will fit a M19. Thanks

Use drill rod or go to the local tool place. Get the drill bit that is closest to the size you need [over sized please] . If it is too large chuck it up in a drill press or a hand drill and turn it down with emory paper 'till it's tight fit and insert it. Nick

I just got a couple direct from S&W for the interchangeable sight guns. They were like 47 cents each. I imagine the ones for the pinned sights will cost about the same. You will need to call them to place the order.

Make sure you use the right punch to remove or install pins in any S&W revolver. They are called cup punches. Brownells sells them. You can get a set or measure the one you have and order it, pretty hard when in the gun.
These pins are round ended. If you use a flat punch you can flatten them.

Machining drill rod to the correct size seems like overkill. One would think that this would be a readily available part. Brownels has some pins but I can't even find the part number anywhere to know if the ones at brownels are correct. This is surprising.

Just measure the diameter of your pin and buy the same at Brownells. You may have to shorten it and round off the end you cut. Just leave the pin proud on both sides.

I just went back to the Brownels site and they are out or stock just since yesterday. Seriously, why is this such a difficult part to find listed anywhere. They must cost about a penny apiece to make. There is a guy on ebay who has one and with shipping it would be about ten bucks. I suppose Smith would prefer I send the pistol to them to have the new sight installed.

Does your gun have a solid pin or a roll pin? The solid pins I just re-use. The roll pins I throw away and replace with solid pins. My 66's, 617's, 625 all use the same length pin. A 19 would just have a blued instead of stainless pin.

The (solid, stainless) pin I usually get is Brownells' 940-077-250. S&W 077250000. I'm not sure what model it's for...

Mine has a roll pin. I tried the part numbers on Brownels site but nothing came up. I did spend the entire morning with a magnet and was somehow able to find one I had dropped in the carpet in the reloading room some time ago (how lucky is that). Still, as tiny as they are and as easy as they are to loose I will keep my eyes open for someone to get them in stock. These things are incredibly small.
