A while back I screwed up and managed to crush the spring between the hammer and sear on my taurus 856. I have a new spring but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the spring between the two. Any tips or suggestions?

If it is similar to the S&W MIM sear, I use a bobby pin to hold the spring. (It helps to have the hammer secured in a padded vise)

Insert the free end of the spring opposite the bobby pin into the cavity in the sear, and while compressing the spring with the "tool", push the sear, compressed spring and bobby pin assembly into the cavity in the hammer all at the same time. Once the spring is inside the cavity, and while holding the sear in place, carefully remove the bobby pin.
