I was trying to switch grips on my 60. The new grips (walnut) fit a little too snug ang and when I tried to take them off a chip came off on the underside behind the trigger guard. I have the piece. It’s about 1/8”X3/16”. What’s the best glue the chip back in. Super glue?

NO. Go to your local HD and find some TiteBond wood glue. You will need very little, but do NOT just buy a different glue because of "small" size. Plus tape it closed, like in a clamp.

And yes, wipe the excess glue off immediately because it saves a lot of work later.

Titebond III is an excellent wood glue, strong & waterproof, but be aware that once it dries, there's no getting it off, never, ever, not with any solvent from water to acetone and all in between, of your fingers, clothes, or even the wood you're gluing, short of sanding it off.
I can show you my ruined shirts.

Yes, as above. Suggest, while wearing nitrile gloves, barely getting enough glue on the chip/piece, place the chip in place (holding it with a fingertip), wipe everything off with a damp(NOT wet) paper towel corner, place a small piece of wax paper over the piece, and very carefully taping the wax paper/chip combo down to the grip.

And yes, it may require some sanding and refinishing of the area. Don't go overboard. If you sanded very gently and not completely through the finish, try the following product as a touch up. I would also advise NOT to apply this to the checkering UNLESS you have a compressed air hose (already in hand). Even waiting a few seconds after getting this in the checkering, is too late, so be careful and quick. Good luck!
