I have a model 53 and get a wide sour hammer for it.
I tried replacing but it wouldn’t quite work… I can’t remember exactly what the deal was but I put the original back in and it’s good.

I also tried fitting a wide sour to a model 28 just now.
It did single action but didn’t work double. The trigger only moved slightly before it wouldn’t go any further.

Being a newbie to all this, I know that certain parts need to be fitted properly.,
What would be a typical issue and procedure for this?
What would normally be stopping the hammer from moving back in double action?

Any other info about fitting replacement parts would be helpful.

I have yet to delve into my Kuhnhausen book but I’ll get there shortly., I just got it a few days ago.

Thanks

I've had a couple replacement hammer/sear combos drop right in and a couple that required removing the original sear and putting it in the replacement hammer. I can't say if the original sear will always make a replacement hammer work.
