Hey guys, I need some help here. I bought a NIB 442 and also a new Titanium cylinder from Midway, yes, the correct one for the J frame.. I went to put it on this morning (just as I have done in the past with no issues on other J frames) and on the first trigger pull, The cylinder is stuck and the trigger is in the rearward position, and I don't know what to do to unseize either one?

I used the extractor that came with the Ty cylinder from Midway so now I am thinking it is the timing or something. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks...

Did that first trigger pull start out ok then get difficult? It sounds as if the hand is a bit wide for the teeth in your new extractor.

Try pulling forward on the trigger by pinching it between your thumb and forefinger. DO NOT pry on it with a tool...that is almost guaranteed to damage the finish of the trigger guard.

The hand is hardened and the extractor teeth are not, so the hand will cut the extractor teeth to fit. It will probably take almost as much force to move the trigger forward as it did to pull it. Smith & Wesson cuts the extractor teeth with a modified trigger that has a big handle that sticks down below the trigger guard.

Post number 18 in this thread discusses how I approached a similar issue. You CAN fit the extractor teeth by dry firing, but you need to support the star with empty cases and be aware that you will need to invest several hours of time to get them all correct.

I agree with Shotgun coach...except for the prying part....try using something that wont mar the finish, like a plastic or wooden instrument....most of the time the trigger will pop forward

I actually hit the side of the revolver with a rubber mallet and it reset the trigger. I then took the cylinder out and swapped the original extractor into the Titanium cylinder and it seems to be working fine now. Must have been the timing on the one that came with the new Ti cylinder.

Thanks for the help, guys.. Snap caps and over 500 trigger pulls so far and gtg. A range session will have to verify this, but I am good with it so far.
