Eighteen Rounds the old Fashioned way......

It is a Heavy Duty, which is a .38 Special on an N frame, which is also known as a 38/44 (38 caliber on a 44 frame). Because of the larger frame, it could safely handle the much hotter 38/44 cartridge.

Eighteen Rounds the old Fashioned way......

Funny... I was thinking the same thing. It would make a nice 45 Colt. I do love the leather, too. One of these days, I will spring for some nice tooled leather like that.

    325 Nightguard stocks

You'll probably want something without a covered backstrap. The Pachmayr Compacs that come with the NG make the trigger reach too long for me. I wish they still made Compac Pros for the N frame.

A 3rd Gen Semi Auto guy now carrying a wheel gun

I like it. A five shot 44 is a heck of a defensive gun. I think I'd be careful with my choice of cartridges. How about some pics?

686 plus performance center 2.5" thoughts?

I will begin this by saying that everyone's experience will be a little different with body size, shape, strength, and flexibility being different. Add in different climates, clothing, and possibly old injuries... Your mileage is very likely to vary. All that said, I've successfully and...

What's your favorite style of J-frame?

Trolleyguy, I admire your decisiveness! I have only one J frame, and it is a 642. Cenntenials are snag free and DAO. They make great concealment guns. Though typically in my pocket, I've been experimenting with a belly band for the last two weeks or so. So far, I like that way to carry.

Is freefloat really worth it for a non bench shooter?

If you plan to use the sling as something other than a carrying strap, you need to freefloat the barrel. From personal experience and numerous observations of other shooters, with an M16A2 you will see a POI shift of 1-2 inchs or more at 25 yards when slinging up. The POI shifts low and left for...

    McDonalds- All the same? Not!

I will eat at McDonalds, but it isn't my first choice. I hate the new layouts. It is tough to find a seat where my back isnt to something, and the high tops are annoying. It is too high for my seven year old and not really comfortable. Chick Fil A is usually my first choice among fast food. I...

Stupid Question what is a "Klick" or "Click"

Agree that a click equals 1000 meters or one kilometer. I figured that the military uses the metric system to 1) better synch with our NATO allies, and 2) because military maps use the Military Grid Reference System which is based on meters. One grid square equals 1000 m squared.

    Jack Reacher....huh? Huh?

Is this the movie where Cruise talks about how all of his suspects are trained to kill? I think I remember that from the trailer. When I saw that, all I could think was that as an MP, he would have more experience writing tickets to drivers doing 2 kilometers per hour over the posted 20 kph...

REMINDER! Check & lube your carry gun.

Great point! Even "plastic fantastic" guns have metal parts that can rust. Thanks for the reminder.

Wow! That's very nice. I really like the grain on the stocks in the first pic. Happy shooting!

    Bug Out Bags

Just as an aside, you may want to try putting in some miles with all your stuff on your back. One of the ways the Army still breaks people down is the ruck march. Add blisters to sore, cramping trap muscles and dehydration (most civilians really don't know what it takes to get and stay...

    New movie: Fury

"Courage Under Fire" with Denzel Washington was at least partly from a DAT... I mean, tanker's perspective. :D:p So was "Tank" with James Garner, but I don't think that counts.
