McDonalds- All the same? Not!

McD is a fine place to eat. If someone wants haute cuisine, then they need to keep driving. When you're hungry and just want to kept a decent meal, McD offers enough items so that anyone can find something they will like.

Try a McDs on Hawaii if you want to see ruthless portion control.

I drove past what I'd always thought was one of the busiest McDonalds in town, yesterday. Wasn't a soul there. Closed sign. Golden Arches had been taken down.

KFC deep-sixed the nearest one to me a couple of years back and I never understood why. It always seemed to have steady trade. So much for the recovery, I say.:(

I like the old fast food places from back in the 50's and 60's. You know where the guy in back grabbed a hunk of ground beef in his greasy hands and molded it into a burger made just for you, no frozen pattie back then. Maybe it wasn't as sanitary as today but they did use real meat and a lot of it. And I never heard of anyone getting sick from it.

For every $1 of mcd money only .03 cents goes to the food. Its evident in the quality.

Certain food items are different across the country. Here in the STL MO area the gravy for the biscuits and gravy is thick, with a perfect amount of heat in the flavor. In central ILL the gravy is thin, watery and tasteless. I'm sure it is outsourced.

There some quality employees who work there but I cannot stand the ones that stand there and instead of using proper words they just grunt or talk like the dead lice is falling off of them.
"welc to ma......"
"I'd like a glass of water and a small fry."
"waaa....ha a good.......da"

Or those who stand there with a blank stare or empty eyes.
Again there are some good people who work there but the bad apples make them all look bad.

One thing about the employees...You can always tell who works at a Micky D's, after they've left their shift...They all smell like a grease pit.

One thing I will give Micky D's credit for though is, I have seen one or two places that have hired some that have a mental handicap...(a real one)

Pilgrim, did you stop and get any fudge from in town at the Fudge Factory? That's worth the trip in itself!!!!!

When I visited my Sister in Tx last year my BIL took me over to Waco to the Texas Ranger Museum and we stopped at McD's and I asked for country ham and egg biscuit and quickly found out they don't have what we here in NC call country ham their version is what we call Canadian Bacon. Never occurred to me they wouldn't have Country Ham.

Did you really check, or was it a slice of SPAM meat in there?

After the SWCA meeting in Boise a couple of years ago we visited Promontory Point where it was over 100. I decided I had to have some sweet tea and we drove back to the Interstate and found a McDonalds. I asked for tea and was told quite rudely that they did not serve tea on Sunday. I took my burger to the car and got a Coors out of the trunk.

We can screw up alot of things but we can do county ham right! Biscutville here locally is great.

I did service work in their kitchens years ago and I can say they are clean at least the ones here I was in.
One reason the food is the same most places is the automated cooking equipment they all use. It all cooks the same and with no human control over temp and time. They have their own standards for equipment and make the manufactures build them to their standards.

I don't normally eat there but all have been the same wherever I've been. I did have a burger in one in Paris in the 70s and it did taste different. They had wine and beer on the menu too which was strange to me.

I stop at a convenience store, usually attached to a gas station, and pick up some peanuts or the mix of nuts and raisins. Kills the hunger and much more healthier then the mystery meat from the fast food places

It's funny, the way some people are. I've known people who trust McD and some other big chains, much more than they would an old small local cafe. They probably wouldn't let their kids eat in a place like that. I can enjoy a few things they have, but the Big Mac is still the worst burger I've ever had. I went to one the other day and got a salad. I asked for crackers, and they said, "Oh, we don't have those." Huh?

How about flatscreen TVs? I think the first one that I saw was in Gunnison, Colorado.
I was headed to the mens room, looked up and there was a flatscreen TV mounted high on the wall.
I have seen a few other since then.

Many years ago when our kids were smaller we drove to Florida for a 2 week vacation. We were driving and stopped at a Mickey Des for breakfast. My wife and I both drove so we made good time heading south, we were on I -95 in one on the Carolinas but do not remember which one.

It was kind of a busy place lots of trucks, we went in to hit the rest room and get a breakfast. About the only thing I get from Mickey's is a couple Sausage Mcmuffin‎ with egg. Gave up on most everything else they sell years ago. So I ordered my 2 my wife and kids each got a egg Mcmuffin. After about a 10 minute wait we got our food. For those of you that do not hit Mickey's the sandwiches use English muffins. All our muffins were steamed (still wet with warm water), and one bite and Oscar Sierra were they awful tasting. Soggy and had absolutely no taste.

Went back to the counter and said these things are steamed why are they not cooked? The manager/owner said we are a very busy place and we have to do things fast here. Got our money back and found another place to get some food. ( I have ordered that item in a few dozen places as we travel a lot and never saw a steamed one before or after we left that place on I-95.)

I moved to TX four years ago from NC, my wife still does not believe me that there is country ham and "city ham".

I won't even say how much I miss Cheerwine, livermuch, Cookout, Hardees and Bojangles :(

I will eat at McDonalds, but it isn't my first choice. I hate the new layouts. It is tough to find a seat where my back isnt to something, and the high tops are annoying. It is too high for my seven year old and not really comfortable.

Chick Fil A is usually my first choice among fast food. I worked there in high school and didn't have any of the, ummm, stories about food prep that the people at McDonalds did.
