Apex Tactical extended firing pin & spring kits

I have also had c&s pins break and know of many more that have also broken. These have all been in guns that guys shoot a lot in competition. I have never broken an apex pin or a TK Custom extended firing pin. c&s tell you not to dry fire theirs. As far as the hollow firing pin, every 929 that I...

    627-5 for USPSA/IPSC Revolver Division

I would suggest that you use something like NorthMountain, or Revolver Supply post type moonclip holders for your loaded moons to use. If you are not concerned about speed and being that competitive, Hogue makes a really nice dump bag that attaches to your belt. I use mine located right behind...

    Thread proector?

If you are planning to use the rimfire for Steel Challenge matches, you may want to leave the flash hider on the rifle, it helps direct the sound back so that the shot timer can pick up the noise.

    Miculek springs kit or Wolff?

You can get either one from midway for about $15 each. The bang spring is flat and straighter than the wolff, with the bend in it closer to the end where it hooks to the hammer. The wolff is a longer arc the length of the spring. both will get you to the same results, but how you get there is a...

    986 barrel question

I have both and they both like .357/.358 dia. bullets and they are quite accurate using bullets that are at those dimensions..

    High Viz light pipe replacement

This is what you need to do. It is not hard. Cut the plastic and old tube out with diagonal cutter and then drill out the rest, you will need to drill from the end you are looking at when sighting the gun and drill through the metal on the other end. Then replace the tube just like any other...

    USPSA 38 special shorts?

If you want to reconsider the 929, Federal makes a 150 gr. coated factory round in 9mm that makes power factor and works well with lightened triggers. It's called syntech.

    9mm & 38 special dies=38short colt

For around $40 bucks you can buy a LEE 38 Short Colt die set. I've been using one for over 5 years and it works great. I use 145 to 150 grain coated round nose bullets OAL is 1.125 , Bullseye, Auto Comp, and BE-86 all work well in it.

    Faster reloading 627 Pro

I agree with Pizza Bob, Use a roll crimp. I shoot 15-20000 rounds a year with 95% of them being coated bullets. I use them in 9mm and 38 spcl and 38 short colt. I have and USE LEE 38 short colt roll crimp die on the short colt rounds AND on the 9mm. I use these primarily in my 929, but I also...

627 vs 929 revolver for Steel Challenge and ICORE?

Even though it doesn't say cut for moonclips the 627 performance center with a 5 inch barrel is cut for moonclips, I have bought two of them in the last year and I definitely use moonclips in them. SKU 170210

627 vs 929 revolver for Steel Challenge and ICORE?

The only 627s that I know of that are NOT cut for moonclips are the early 6 shot ones, and there may be others I'm not aware of, but I think that any recent 627 8 shot is cut for moons.

627 vs 929 revolver for Steel Challenge and ICORE?

One thing that I found was until I had tried and used all of the brass I was reloading for the 929 and kept them separate I would notice that sticky case ,hard to insert/hard to extract problem and I found that the major reason for it in my experience was for a lack of a better term "glock...

    Faster reloading 627 Pro

Since there is no sammi specs on the grooves on 38/357, there are several thickness of moonclips out there. .020, .o22, .025, and then some made for specific headstamp. Winchester is usually the tightest having to use .022 or .020, most others use .o25. Revolver supply has both sizes, and TK...

    Resolving list primer hits 627PC

This used to be the case, but like a lot of things s&w found it cheaper to install a spring loaded yoke screw so they didn't spent time fitting it to the yoke. You will find like Toolguy says that they also come in different lengths.

627 vs 929 revolver for Steel Challenge and ICORE?

I have and use both. The 627 5inch is a bit faster handling, but the 929 with the 6.5 barrel is more accurate for longer shots. With either one to have a good smooth trigger you will probably have to reload your ammo and run federal primers after you work the action over for a lighter pull...

    titanium cylinders and lead ball

I wouldn't worry about it. I got mine to use and not polish it back up to put it in a museum to look shiny. The titanium coating is porous and the cylinder chambers need "seasoning" almost like a castiron pan does. This stops the brass casings from sticking in them. The titanium should not have...
