1911's... All the Bells and Whistles, or Mil Spec ?

I like a pretty basic... simple pistol. No ambi safety, no FLGR, no big magwell, dont need an oversized beavertail... JMB got it pretty right out of the box. Jim

Ruger Stainless 1911 (Update See Last Page)

I will be SERIOUSLY disappointed if they have a recall on them. 100 year old design, currently made with GREAT success in other countries with a lot less tech, research, and development behind them. I would like to look at the commander when they bring it out. Jim

    Playing Dress Up (Two-Tone Pre-27)

For looks... the Ivory smooth magnas are beautiful. For shooting and if I ever decided to carry it, I like #2. BEAUTIFUL .357 Magnum. Jim

    Kimber vs. Rock Island Arms

Actually, there are 3 main Philippine 1911 builders. Armscor, Metro Arms, and SAM "Shooters Arms Mfg". RIA ia Armscor, American Classic is Metro Arms. All have proven to be very decent 1911s so far. Jim

    Kimber vs. Rock Island Arms

We own 2 Armscor 1911s, 1 full size and 1 compact. The compact needed a heavier than factory spring, other than that they have both consumed everything fed to them. I hit the range any chance I can, and have been to the range in most places I have worked. Maybe its due to volume sold, but 3...

    Armscor 1911's

Just a word here. The silver Armscor 1911s are not stainless. They are nickel, either polished or brushed. My EDC is a 2 tone Tactical, brushed nickel frame parked slide. Jim Jim

    Armscor 1911's

My wife and I both have Armscor 1911s as EDC pieces. We love them. Jim

Took the new purchases to the range...

It was just going to be one to share... Then she said the magic words. "Yanno... if they made it in pink..." Jim

Took the new purchases to the range...

Yesterday Caryn, her son, and I took both Sterlings and my Delta Elite to the range. Short day, only brought 350 rounds with us. First off, the Sterlings are GREAT plinkers. 34 round mags, fairly cheap 9mm ammo, and a gun you could put the butt against your nose and fire. Yes, almost no recoil...

Gun Shops vs wives in department stores

I have been working my tail off. :D I put about 10 lbs back on over the winter... but well... spring is here and summer is coming. I should be dropping it back off, and hopefully a few more. Jim

Gun Shops vs wives in department stores

Hell... I send my wife after guns... and just take her with me to buy. I get more guns that way. Jim

    New *to me* Delta Elite

My 1911s have been target sights, novak sights, ambi safeties... This is my first "basic" 1911. I have to say I LOVE the minimalist aspect of it. It will be getting night sights, but they will still be small. it will be keeping the single side safety. I really like the fact that it doesnt have...

    New *to me* Delta Elite

I look at the 10mm like I look at my .44s. They are reloaders cartridges. To get the best out of them, and to be able to shoot them to your hearts content, you really need to reload for your handguns. I plan on buying up some Power Pistol and pulling the handle on my loader for them. Jim

    New *to me* Delta Elite

Pawncop, the frame cracking was generally on the earliest batch off the line. They cracked on the left side above the slide stop. Colt fixed it by removing the material above the slide stop hole. This will be a weekend shooter for me, most loads between the fbi load and the norma load. Not to...
