    3" model 60 question

Meh92, I purchased this little guy about one year ago. Paid $350 and haven't looked back since. The 60-4 is an absolutely delightful gun to shoot, and as much fun to fondle. Your friend did very well.

    How about some 3 inchers?

    OK. I didn't see an model 19's, so here's my 3". And here's a 60-4:

    Much To My Surprise....

Wow, I'm really loving the look of the 3" barrel. That 3" 686 would make a fine addition to my 3" M19 and 3" M60. Do I sense the beginning of a new addiction? Great pics, thanks for sharing, and welcome to the forum.

Should my 19-2 diamonds be numbered?

No, it's not a cut down 4 inch because it does have a round butt, and if you notice, the roll stamping is centered on the barrel. It could be a 2 1/2" changed out, but the blueing is quite consistent. I do plan on having this gun lettered one day when Roy begins accepting new requests. I do...

Should my 19-2 diamonds be numbered?

OK, thanks guys. These grips appear to fit quite well. But then, I have moved non-stock grips around on other revolvers and they always seem to fit rather well. S&W quality at work no doubt! The pictures hopefully will add a visual to my question. Thanks in advance for evryone's help...

Should my 19-2 diamonds be numbered?

I've recently purchased a M19-2 #K591xx round butt with diamond grips. These grips are not numbered. Does this mean the grips are not original to the gun?

    686SSR

I love my 686SSR. I think the barrel shape is unique and always draws interest among shooters. I don't really think I shoot any better than other revolvers I own. The wood grips are gorgous but hurt my hand like hell when shooting so now it has Houge fingergroove rubbers. Is the extra price...

    A rare find? Model 19-2 w/ 3" barrel

Thanks for all the input. Interesting guns will always cause interest, and that's why I go for them. As for this one, serial number is K5916xx. If you notice, it's a round butt, so it didn't start out as a four inch. It could have been a 2 1/2", but would someone really go through the expense to...

    A rare find? Model 19-2 w/ 3" barrel

I picked this beauty up Saturday at an auction in Michigan. I could'nt pass up the 3" barrel, although I'm not crazy about the patridge sight. Serial number places it as a 1964 build, but Supica's notes say the 3" didn't come out until 1965. Either way, I'm way happy I would appreciate...

    Got a opportunity to buy a .38/44

Thanks for all the input. The story is this gun and several other S&W's are from an estate. Each gun is in perfect, unfired or minimal fired, collectable condition and the prices are reasonable. I will use your advice and ask the dealer to remove the grips for numbering. Others available are a...

    Got a opportunity to buy a .38/44

Ok everyone, I need some advice. I have a chance to purchase a 1946 S prefex 5" transitional model. I have'nt seen the gun personally, but it is described as mint with hardly a turn line. No box. What questions do I need to have answered to determine if this gun is worth purchasing? What would...
