    home protection vs conceal carry

I would disagree with your people. The Shield is designed specifically to be a carry gun, although it could serve as a home defense weapon. I doubt you'll find a consensus on the .380 versus 9mm. Each has its own place. Carry as much firepower as you feel you reasonably can. I'm guessing there's...

Will S&W ever offer the Bodyguard .380 without a manual safety?

I believe that in January S&W announced that a BG sans thumb safety will be released. Not sure when. (And presumably you live in a state that would allow for that. Here in California it won't happen.) I'm sure some BG fans will have more info.

    shield takedown lever

The takedown lever comes out rather easily, once you rotate it to a certain position (you'll see it has a small tab/dimple that keys to the frame). This isn't a problem at all, and is presumably designed to be removeable. I will remove it from time to time to better clean it, and the area...

New to forum. A little about me and my S&W firearms

Looks like when you're in, you're all in. I think I like it. Welcome from Cali.

    9c vs Shield

You're all very lucky. Here in California just about the entire M&P line is banned for purchase, unless you're LE (the Shield being the only exception I'm aware of).

    New CC

I don't think you'll find many (any?) people here who will recommend a PC Shield for CC. You made a great choice and I'm very sure you'll enjoy it. Did you go with the thumb safety?

    Shield 9 Magazine Safety Question

Thank you. I should say that I was able to repeat this while insuring that my hand wasn't in any way inadvertently impeding the magazine.

    Shield 9 Magazine Safety Question

I'm fairly new to guns, so forgive me if my question is ridiculous. I recently noticed that when releasing a loaded magazine, it would tend not to fall freely from the weapon. It falls a fraction of an inch then stops. If I give the magazine an outward tug it will then slide out freely. I...

    Shield 9mm or XDs 9mm

Both are solid I own a Shield 9, but I've also fired the XDs and the G43. In my experience (and research) people tend to prefer the XDs if they have larger hands (the pistol grip is bigger). I would really recommend that you first fire these weapons before making a purchase ... it's a very...

Am I crazy for buying a Shield?

I can say that the Shield 9 was my first handgun (and first gun). I spent a lot of time researching this decision. For *me*, the thumb safety was a plus. This is a purchase primarily for CC, so size was an important consideration. The reputation of S&W, and my assurances that the gun would be...
