    45 GAP in 625?

Kinda partly sometimes. My 3 ACP 625s will all fire without clips, as will my chopped 1917. But then I have to poke the cases out of the cylinder with a stick.

Need Info. On An Austin Behlert M25-2 **PIC** Sorry Duplicate Post

mwpslp, that's one fine handgun you got there, and a great piece of American gunning history! Austin Behlert was one of the best pistol-smiths (IMHO) of all time. I'd prefer one of his to a Jovino, but I'm biased. I used to read about Behlert when I was a kid, and wanted one of his mini Hi...

Any K Frame .38 Specials to Avoid?

MX-5, I'd say anything with a model number is fine. Some of the pre-models may not be a good fit for someone new to S&Ws. Other than that, I don't know of any caveats. On a personal note, I won't buy one with the internal lock. But that's just me. Sgt 127, the Model 12 will handle pretty much...

    Model 19 Picture Thread?

19-7 K Comp, my favorite 19. A -5 with it's little brother, a 15. These are all the photos I have of 19s right now. I need to get the camera out.

Md 625-6 PC Thinking of selling. What should I ask

I haven't seen one for sale either, sorry. I've started collecting 625's, so when you figure it out, please drop me a line. I have trade goods too...

The Really Old Chief's Special Thread

I wouldn't restore it. It would loose it's history, and the connection to his GF. And, if times ever get really bad, the collector value would be diminished as well.

    Low Serial Number Model 36

Great gun! Here's lots of info on the early Chiefs Special; http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/530103904/m/9721006522/p/1

    bead blast blue photos wanted

Here's a 19-7. I think the 28s were more blue than black (like this later process), but I'm no expert. Might be a good idea to call S&W and ask them.

    Would you shoot this one?

I wouldn't if it were mine. I haven't seen many (any?) unfired 28s. I'm thinking the value in unfired condition would be much greater to a collector, especially given that the 28 was a more utilitarian gun, and that most of them were given a pretty good workout. Value of the 28 has risen a lot...

Found an "M&P" 19-4 almost NIB

Here are some Belgian proof marks. They are on a 625 that was shipped to England (go figure). These are on the bottom of the barrel. The Crown L is also on the back of the cylinder and the bottom of the frame, just under the yoke. I'm not sure what the German proofs would look like, but they...

    New (to me) Model 38-2

I don't know about the -2, but I have 2 M38 no dash, and both have 30-60 rounds of +P through them. I won't shoot them a lot with +P, but I have no problem with it now and again. Mine are both blue, so I can't speak to the nickel flaking.

    Model 25-5

Thanks Buff, that's what I get for posting at midnight. Indeed, the 1982(ish) and earlier .45 Colt guns are pinned, but not recessed.

    Model 25-5

SteyrAUG, for collectors, the P&R is desirable. For shooters of the .45 Colt, the later guns are built to slightly different spec. I'm not an expert, but from what I know, or think I know, the earlier .45 Colt guns were made to early specs, with .454 (ish) throats in the cylinder (and maybe...
